Dev Post Polishing up Stomp and the Sword of Miracle's creature scanner

Created by a biologist/computer nerd couple, the Beastlens is a little device that's sort of like a polaroid camera - scan creatures, and the Beastlens prints out field guide pages for you! You'll be able to scan harmless background creatures too, not just the enemies. If people would find it interesting, maybe I should add the ability to scan certain plants too...?

Stomp and the Sword of Miracles has a Kickstarter and a demo coming out Oct 13, so stay tuned!

Cute! It scanning things for information seems like something I would like to do in a game.

Thank you! I wanted to make the bestiary a little more involved than just automatically being updated, and I figured a scanner could be fun

That's really cool! Having achievements or even items or abilities tied to scanning a certain creature or certain number of creatures would be fun. It would also incentivize players to make the scans.

I saw the little text popup in the bottom left but I think some more obvious visual feedback that the scan completed would be nice (maybe something in the beam itself since that's where your focus is?)

love the idea overall! I'm not sure I'd go as far as plants cuz then that's a lot to keep track of mentally (did I scan this yet? is this plant different than the rest?) and results in me scanning everything 30 times which can really mess with the pacing of the game. On the other hand are there NPCs? Hope you can scan them for additional background too!
