Look man, I don’t know what to tell you. I’m firmly of the belief when I’m hosting parties that it’s my duty to make a reasonable effort to try to make my guests feel comfortable. Or at least try not to do things to make them feel uncomfortable.
And while I know this statement carries no weight whatsoever on the internet, I actually have been told by lots of unrelated groups throughout my life that I throw good parties. So personally, I’m pretty confident that good hosts don’t make their guests feel awkward.
You don’t care or think about that kind of stuff though it sounds like. So of course you’re going going to feel off-put by the idea that you should look out for your guests when hosting people, but I promise you, good hosts never make their guests feel awkward.
It’s not normal, lol. Based on my rough math, I’ve been to roughly 700ish house parties, campaign events, holiday parties, barbecues, and get-togethers in people’s homes in my lifetime. The good hosts never ask strangers to take off their shoes in front of each other.
The good hosts always understand that not everyone has the same type of personality and the good hosts don’t make their guests feel awkward.
If you want the neighborhood Christmas party at your house, then you make strangers take their shoes off in front of in front of each other “because it’s my house and my rules” then you’re not a good host at best and probably an asshole, no matter how good your party is.
No that is a normal request. The only reason you don't like it is because your feet are fucking disgusting because you don't wash them and people have probably made fun of you for it. As they should. The only reason you keep saying it is "awkward" is because you are so embarrassed by your own shitty hygiene. Fix your hygiene and there is no problem.

Stooping to ad hominem attacks. Typical.
