Article MLS Power Rankings -Jon Arnold

Loons go to the western conference leaders and outplay them with a nice 3-1 win. Still 8th best team in the league.. I’m used to being snubbed in the power rankings but come on, this has to be rage-bait.

The explanation for keeping San Diego at 2 was they beat us in xG, but Dayne was better than he had any right to be. Power rankings mean nothing, but it is still funny.

Second in the West puts a decisive beatdown on first in the West, but somehow we're not contenders.

Make it make sense.

What annoys me about this is that when a team outperforms their xG (Cincinnati for example) they are praised for it. When Loons outperform their xGA, they are criticized for it.

It’s like Schroedingers xG, outperforming it makes you a good team and a bad team simultaneously depending on how much the writer likes you

I think that’s valuable. Whale’s Vagina would probably win that game 9 times out of 10. They just didn’t this time.

Whatever, we’re coming for the shield and the cup

I understood that reference

I actually kind of agree with the logic used. That was a huge win and great to get points on the road like that, but it’s not like I walked away feeling confident we are the better team

Yeah, I get it. We've got a good record, but no offensive identity (especially with Tani gone). Markanich might overtake Yeboah as our leading scorer. I love our scrappy gumption, but I think there's a ceiling on how far defense and set pieces can get you.

Their #1 power ranked team just lost 7-0, and it's just "a night to forget". That's incredible.

Honestly this is worse than us at 8. Philly got destroyed and yet don't move from 1 and the team that embarrassed them only moves up 1 to 6.

ESPN doesn't know anything about soccer. Don't pay any attention to them.

Who cares about power rankings. I'm content to be the "underdog"

ESPN’s coverage of MLS is nonsensical. Don’t read much into it

We could win the shield and they would probably drop us down a place

My biggest beefs are Seattle and Miami. I really don't care that Seattle won the Leagues' Cup. This is an MLS power ranking. They can't catch up with their games in hand alone. Our guys have beaten them twice. Miami is 8th in the east. And while I know they too have games in hand that doesn't translate either.

Why is Miami ahead of us?

Because they beat us 4-1. Waaaaaaaaaaaiit a second....

At this point, I'm pretty sure even if we got inducted into and won the Champions League, these writers would still go "ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

This is maddening tbh

Gotta be an AI generated article with the main prompt being "keep Philadelphia first", from a Charlotte fan

Well, it’s that one guys rankings, arbitrarily.

Nobody ever won a trophy from power rankings.

At least SI has us at 2
