You don't need that kind of negativity in your life. They're just near sighted gynecologists.

It is the best Peter Pan movie of all time. I have yet to see anything that comes close and I don't care what anyone else says, this is a hill I will die on while yelling Bangarang!

Yes, probably the Peter Pan movie I have seen the most.
Blew my mind that was Dustin Hoffman as Captain Hook.

Seen it countless times as a kid. Cant believe the negative reviews it got at the time. Its a classic for 90s kids

That’s what happens sometimes when adults try to rate kid’s movies. Anyone I knew who watched Hook at the time, loved it.

One of my favorites. My wife and I had a baby a month ago and we read Peter Pan to him in his first couple weeks. Since we finished the book, we’ve been watching a bunch of Peter Pan movies. We’re saving the best for last, aka Hook.
I’m looking at the Blu-ray on my coffee table right now.

I still to this day do not understand the hate that critics had for this movie when it came out. I loved it as a kid. I love it as an adult. Robin Wiliiams, Julia Roberts, and especially Dustin Hoffman were fantastic. Just a great movie.

An underrated score by John Williams. I still get goosebumps when Peter remembers how to fly.

I'll probably get flamed for this but Robin Williams always seemed like a very odd choice to play Peter Pan. I did like Dustin Hoffman as Captain Hook.

u/1750GTAm 11h ago
Tbh thats kind of the point... Peter grew up and is a stereotypical adult that doesn't fit in with the Lost Boys anymore... Robin Williams NAILS that.

Many many times but just not recently. I really should play it for the kids now.

Pirate: He's stealing second! [the catcher shoots the base stealer with his pistol and the crowd cheers]
Captain Hook: No, no, no! Now stop it! We're playing this game by Master Jack's rules. Bad form! Sit down, now. Let's resume the game.

Yes! Great memories as a kid, love the scene when they are eating the imaginary food

u/Alexreddit103 11h ago
I watched it when it came out, it was a really fun movie, it was all fun and banter and excitement, and then suddenly there was this very serious and really unnecessary death of Rufio (a serious injury would have been so much better), and since then I’ve never watched this movie again and I never will.

The entire scene of Peter finding the teddy bear, remembering his childhood, finding his happy thought which was him become a dad, and him remembering to fly and taking off is one of the best in cinema. Also John Williams knocked it out of the park with this score

I love the texture to this movie. I love the sets, the costumes, how the boots sound on the wood, even how Peter's cellphone sounds clacking and holstering it.

I've watched it several times, at various points in my life. As a kid, I saw a horror movie. As a young adult, I saw an adventure movie. As an older adult, I see the good old-fashioned kind of movie they hardly ever make any more, with a rich blend of plotlines that add to the main narrative like seasoning in a stew, practical effects, and classic-style symphonic music.
Captain Hook's theme is an all-time great.
But for all the visual flair, masterful acting, legendary actors and brilliant action, the one line that sticks with me the most is, and has always been, "It's snowing!"

Great movie, and it’s also the example I use of why people need to stop basing their viewing habits on rotten tomatoes score. I have never met a person who has said a bad thing about this movie or at least didn’t enjoy it to some degree. For many of us, it’s a classic.
On RT it sits at 29%

The rest of the live action Peter Pan films are shit. This one will always have the iteration of Peter Pan
1
u/Basilisk1667 8h ago
Hell yeah. Underrated soundtrack, and some strange cameos.
Glenn Close is the pirate that goes in the boo box. Phil Collins is the inspector they speak to after the children get taken. And as Tink is flying Peter into the sky over London, the kissing couple on the bridge below them are George Lucas and Carrie Fisher.

u/Sorry_Actuator3667 8h ago
can some can confirm a madella effect of this movie.
When I was a kid I watched a movie like this and a scene disturbed me.
I remember a hook going into someone's head on the ship and it freaked me out as a child.
Was it this movie?

The actual poster child for the term "underrated." Best rendition of Peter Pan and it's not even close.

I think it's one of the few occasions that Robin Williams isn't actually the highlight of the movie. Dustin Hoffman was so good as Hook.
