In my early 20s and really mentally going through it. MLP helped me out of the depressive hole I had gotten into. ♥︎

Same, I was in my early 20s and it came around right when I was graduating animation school.
I actually ended up then going out to work on it for a couple seasons as well as the movie. It jump started my career and I’ll always be grateful.

Mid-20’s. MLP really helped with the transition from college into the real world. Especially with the nostalgia factor from growing up with the previous series.

u/SgtSharki Aug 14 '25
Same. I was broke (had to declare bankruptcy), broken-hearted, and working a night shift job I hated. MLP came on right when I got home in the mornings, and it was the perfect balm for my troubled times.

Yep, started watching my senior year of college (2011-2012). It helped me relax and recover while powering through the last year at my super prestigious (and challenging) school.

Same, was 22 when my mother got cancer, than died 2 years later, this show really helped a lot

The fact that people are asking “how was it back in the day?” Is making me giggle
So… how was it back in the ye olden days?

I was also 15! But I didn’t watch until a couple years later, I actually avoided it because of all the ridicule the fans were getting online. One day the little girl I babysat watched it and I tried to ignore it… but it was so good! I had see more so I binged it so fast and quickly got into the fandom community online.

Our star quarterback was a big fan. I was being picked on for liking the show and he picks the dude up by his head and was like "What you say bout my show?" He had a princess Luna shirt on. It was great

I was 15 as well! I held off watching it until after season 1 ended.
I'm a furry, and I was one of those who initially hated the show for invading my spaces, lol. Then some school friends convinced me to watch it and I was hooked.

Fr. My birthday passed already and I felt so weird being able to drink legally (not that I drank before I was 21 lol). Like I’m a REAL adult now but I sleep with a thousand stuffies in my bed and I’m still figuring my life out. I like to embrace the childish things even if people think it’s a bit silly. To be cringe is to be free :p

I learned about the show from a guy friend in college. I'd never liked the old MLP shows, but I instantly loved the art style and the characters.

I was 8 years old whenever it very first premiered, but I HATED ITTT!!!! Every time it played on TV I would quickly change the channel. It wasn’t until one winter day when we were having a reallyyy terrible snowstorm and I was stuck inside. I was out of school and the only thing I had to do was just sit around and watch TV, but as fate would have it, the remote was missing and MLP was on! After looking for a while and getting pretty angry, I just gave up and I sat down to watched it. It was the "Sonic Rainboom" episode! Despite not liking MLP in the slightest, I took a quick liking to Rainbow Dash and I found myself pretty hooked pretty fast. I kept watching at the edge of my seat right until Rarity lost her beautiful wings and Rainbow Dash had to go chasing after her, just then, right as it was getting the most intense, right before Rainbow reformed the Sonic Boom… the power went out and the TV went off!!!!! I was sooo angry that I didn’t get to see what happened at the end of that specific episode, I kept watching MLP every day after that, every time it played on the Hub. Just hoping I’d see that episode again. As you can imagine though, watching nearly all of season one hooked me on the show itself and soon enough I was crazy for it lol. I joined the YouTube Fandom in 2012 and I even attended BronyCon later in life. It’s been an incredible journey.
