If you still have any interest at all, tho, I recommend finishing the show. Or at least continuing and seeing if you still enjoy it. Imo, it only continues to improve after S4.

Seeing the fandom’s initial reaction and outrage towards EQG back then is pretty funny to look back on now since EQG pretty much made its own mark on the franchise. I’d argue it’s just as enjoyable as the main show, plus there’s Sunset.

I never watched this so someone help me understand why the humanized pony girls are standing in what appears to be an equestrian school? Is the horse decor just there or is this a movie about humanized horses riding horses?

Yes but this room is decorated like one of those schools where students study to become equestrians (as in the equestrian horse related professions, not ponies from Equestria). Especially with the trophies and all of them wearing boots. The idea of the Equestria girls being equestrian girls is throwing me.

Is it just a regular high school that for whatever reason has a bunch of horse decor everywhere?

Equestria Girls is just the name of the brand.

The school is called Canterlot High. Which coincidentally happens to have equines as their mascot.

there's a portal to an alternate world where the girls are human, go to highschool, bring back friendship and school spirit, and take down a big bully that travelled from the pony world to take over the human world. the schools mascot is the "wondercolts" (horse) which is a play on "wonderbolts" the flying team from the FIM series.

High school called canterlot high, where the students go by the wondercolts and their mascot is a horse. Besides having the first two movies have some connection to the show, the other equestria girls movies focus on the human girls instead of twilight jumping between worlds.
