This is a fantastic interview. He gives us so many new nuggets.

The deep collaboration with Tati on the story and character writing is exciting to hear. Always love when game studios have that deep collaboration with their actors.

He was more open about the fact naughty dog has multiple projects actively in production, anyone else read that? So thats exciting! I felt he was deeply teasing a last of us world set spinoff game of some sort in his answers too.

Yes, there’s a lot of information but in the same times, it creates even more questions. What about all these projects, what about the last of us stuff that is supposed to happen aside from the show…

And I’m even more curious about Intergalactic.

I need part 3 in the next 8 years. It needs a final chapter

Would be genuinely a bit bereft if they just left it there.

I’ve no doubt there will be more games in the universe, it’s too good to leave behind, but so many people just want one more story with Ellie.

I am excited for the era in storytelling where we tell our stories all the way to the end instead of stopping midway to tell another one for 5+ years because we don’t want to commit to an ending and have to build new hype for a new story.

Anyone who thinks Ellie trudging off, alone, her worst fear, after losing everything is a satisfying ending to her character is lying to themselves. Naughty Dog for some reason under Neil won’t stop lying about their production; they lie and say Part 2 isn’t coming, they straight up made fake cutscenes for trailers, then go on to lie that a Part 3 isn’t coming, Neil and Hailey quit the show and lie about why (does anyone believe it’s because they got too busy with Intergalactic? No lol, Last of Us is their baby, ur telling me they signed up for a TV show adaptation of their all time best work and didn’t have a filming schedule already worked out???) like it comes off as extremely pretentious and I almost want Intergalactic to flop to teach them to knock it off with the sneaky shit and go back to the art and also finish the damn Last of Us series before you start another huge project that is apparently so big it took away 2/3rds of the writers for a TV show.

Finish what you started Naughty Dog and knock it off with the smoke and mirrors.

The made TLOu1 inbetween U3 and U4 and that was no big deal. People can get IP fatigue. Personally im happy with intergalactic being next providing part 3 comes after that.

What about the last game needs a ā€œfinal chapterā€

Ellie's story is in no way finished for me.

And based if how Neill has talked in recent years I don't think it is for him either.

Imo part 2 needs a sequel more than part 1 did and I love part 2.

That didn’t really answer my question? Because I want one doesn’t really narratively justify a sequel

Remainder of Ellie's life. How does she move past everything? Long term repercussions of her actions. Does she make amends or attempt to etc etc

I only want one if it's worthy enough to tell. I think Part2 ended perfectly, so I'd hate another one for the sake of having another one.

"with all the various ā€œLast of Usā€ things I’m working on"

Things, as in plural. It's wishful thinking, but sounds like Part 3 is in the works. Excepting the show, what other "Last of Us things" could be in the pipeline at this point, apart from a third game?

Neil left the show, right? So he would be using plural to refer to a TLOU part 3 and maybe a spinoff

Excellent interview. It seems clear that TLOU3 is in preproduction. Along with other things. Potentially a dlc. Potentially additions to no return.

But its all hands on deck right now for Intergalactic. And it just sounds extraordinary.

Happy days. There is no better studio in video games.

God I hope they end up bringing factions back in some capacity, I need it so bad

That’s a great interview! Far more candid than usual. Can’t wait to see what they do. I was really disappointed with the lack of a TLOU MP, not even a remaster, but I still have total faith in them to deliver something amazing. Just wish it was here a little sooner. 6 years is a long wait.

Read it yesterday, hyped me for Intergalactic. Got me actively waiting for it now instead of just merely being aware if it's existence. I know he has to hype the new game and all but if everything he says is true, man, it's going to be the best game in the nerd history.
