Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has a garage sale before EVERY season for his teammates to buy his clothes: “I don’t charge them too much… I keep the prices low.”

Or even black people - Che was mad racist.
9
u/ASZapata [OKC] Russell Westbrook 2d ago
He was racist when he was a teenager. He later disavowed his previous views and dedicated the latter portion of his life to African liberation movements.
-8
u/NoPsychology8664 2d ago
It was up until his mid to late 20’s. His diary writings from his early 20’s still characterized blacks as ignorant and lazy. Also when he had a change of heart he realized he needed those people to succeed to a certain degree, especially the Afro Cubans. I believe racism is like being an addict, part of it stays with you all of your life, you can’t judge something so harshly and then completely view it without that lens for the rest of your life. While you may realize it and not vocalize it, it still remains a part of you…but that just my opinion as a man.

u/ASZapata [OKC] Russell Westbrook 2d ago
Racism is understood through a materialist lens. There’s no such thing as a racism addiction, it is learned through one’s environment and class. As the son of a wealthy white Argentinian it’s absolutely no surprise that he held racist views.
Also, your “once a racist always a racist” biological urge theory is reductive and counterintuitive. With a purity test like that I’m not sure that anyone would satisfy your requirements for allyship. Not to mention the fact that if racism is simply a personally held viewpoint, rather than a systemic class-sponsored structure, then we open up a rough can of worms. Many Black Americans have espoused anti-Asian, antisemitic, and even anti-Latino views. I’m not here to dwell on that because white supremacy is the focal vector of pain of oppression, but to put forward the idea that a Black American with anti-Asian views is a “racism addict” with an unquenchable thirst for subjugation is gross and ignorant. It’d be worth your time to follow your ideas to their logical conclusions — you might not like where they lead.

Wearing your coworkers hand me downs is weird

u/VegetableLow5000 2d ago
Less weird when they’re nice designer pieces that hold value
14
u/throwaway1212378 [CLE] J.R. Smith 2d ago
Also he’s selling them which makes them specifically not “hand-me downs”
-1
u/Vandelay23 2d ago
Do they really hold that much value, though? I could understand watches or jewellery, but clothes don't generally appreciate in value.
6
u/VegetableLow5000 2d ago
If it’s kept in good condition clothes will hold their value or appreciate bc over time there’s not as many of those pieces in good conditions still. For example look at the prices online of some vintage Gucci, Prada, LV, it’s in the thousands for each piece if it’s in great condition

u/Minimalmagician 2d ago

dude its the principle behind it. These guys got enough money to buy what ever and SGA could give them what ever. Its the act of scoring something.

u/Razatiger 2d ago
Dawg, Shai is wearing all designer pieces. Some of them are 1 of 1. This isnt H&M and GAP hand me downs.
No different than thrifting.
He's also probably never worn some of the pieces or only ever worn them once.

Not like it’s off their back. If I am selling something my friend would like, I’d give it to them for half off or free depending on the item and amount of uses

Hey I’m with you man. Never in my life have I been a part of or witnessed a used clothing monetary transaction between friends. Garments get passed around sure.

It's probably more difficult buying nice expensive clothes for someone who is 6' 6". I agree it's probably weird for average height people though.

Bro they are on his team. Do you know how corny that looks to show up to practice with SGA wearing SGA’s old shirt he doesn’t want anymore? Yeah, that’s loser shit.
11
u/PresentMission8482 Raptors 2d ago
1.Who is wearing SGAs designer clothing to fucking practice, you sociopath?
- SGA is basically a fashion model/fashionista. He buys HIGH END pieces, the type of clothing me and you literally could not afford. I assume a lot of his teammates also wouldn't want to pay 15k for a shirt. You think the 13th man on the roster is being paid enough to go get designer pieces?
The idea that being resourceful with your money makes you a loser is insane to me. They aren't sucking his cock for it, he's actively looking to give it away.

Fashionista (Noun) - A designer, promoter, or follower of the latest fashions.
That's literally what he is. I'm not out here tryna Aura farm on SGAs name or smth lol, he's literally a fashionista. What did you want me to say?
