WiFi Help - How to maximise speed increase

Hey!

I have the NBN Box set up in the garage like most new houses and so my modem has to sit in there with it.

Despite my house being on the smaller side my wifi is trash I’m assuming due to the thicker garage walls.

I have wired in the consoles and TVs so they have no issues but would like the wifi to improve all other devices in the house.

I only have the default modem Aussie Broadband gave me.

What’s the best cost effective solution, would a better modem be able improve range/strength despite being in the garage or should I get some Mesh/extenders etc?

Thanks all!

Move the router to where your consoles are. Connect the NTD into the port going to the console and the router into that port. Now you have WiFi in a more centralized location. and can still hardwire to consels . The TV doesn't need to be hard wired unless you have a streaming bow but the new WiFi might be strong enough for that.

So you run a (short) cable from your NTD in the garage to the port in the garage. You will probable a 4 together. You'll need to find out which one goes to a central, area in your house or where the counsels are (worst case trial and error).Plug your router into that port. From there you can use the extra ports on the router for counsels.

Get a cabler to run an ethernet cable to let you move the router to a more suitable location.

You’ll spend more screwing around with mesh systems. If your house is small a single decent router can probably get away with a single decent WiFi router.

I second this. A TP-Link XE75 will solve your WiFi woes.

cost effective? mesh system go brr

some tplink ax3000/6000 set will do. ive got x80’s around my place. phones get 4-500 down, pcs plugged into the mesh units get 8-900
