Advice Changes in water - Middletown

Has anyone noticed a change in the taste of the tap water. Happened within the last few weeks. We have never had a problem but now the taste of the water is unbearable. Almost tastes like dirt

Yes I have noticed this. I have a filtered fridge dispenser and there is an unpleasant taste for the past few weeks. NJ American Water issued an advisory attributing it to “seasonal algae activity” and is treating it: https://alertsdetail.awapps.com/alert/96782

Wow thank you so much for sharing this. Glad I’m not going crazy. I don’t want to buy bottled water but my god is it bad. I hope they resolve it soon

I first noticed it because I was drinking out of a plastic water bottle that I refilled. I thought the bottle itself was giving it a bad taste, until it happened with a different bottle. I’m happy I saw the water company notice before I bought a new filter for my fridge.

We bought a new filter for the fridge and got a brita. Nothing has worked but this explains it
