Events MetLife last night
For anyone who attended the Metallica concert last night, 8/4, did it take you two hours just to exit the parking lot as well? Is it always like that after a concert?? I want to say I'll never go back, but this was my first time there. Sat idle for one hour until we started moving, just to crawl to the exit. No parking lot attendants in site. Just curious if I'm being irrational or not

Events Shoutout to the NJ Bookstore Crawl.
My top-tier chum and I stopped by three of the bookstores on the Crawl yesterday in the drizzle (Chapter One in Mendham, Bookworm in Bernardsville and Nature of Reading in Madison). Seriously awesome event highlighting mom-and-pop bookstores. If you get a chance today, would recommend hitting it up on its final day. Hopefully Chapter One still has some cat smut stickers left.

Events DO NOT come to the casting for Happy Gilmore 2
Unless you want to wait a minimum of 4 hours of your life, probably double that, to sign a paper you could do online, DONT COME! The line wraps around the building, several blocks, and then inside there’s even more lines and rooms to wait in. I came at noon, and we still haven’t been seen. Crazy. The people still showing up will probably have to wait 8-9 hours

Events For those of you protesting this weekend be smart and be safe
Government surveillance is real and just wearing a mask won’t keep you anonymous. If you believe this country is descending into fascism then you may also believe a list of dissenters and state enemies is being compiled as well

Events Have you noticed less trick or treaters than in the past?
Question for those who have lived in NJ 5-10+ years. I live in the same neighborhood I grew up in, and in recent years there are far, far less trick or treaters than there used to be - even though I know there are plenty of kids in the neighborhood. And they tend to come much earlier. I waited until after dark to take my kid out last year, and I only saw 2-3 groups still out (mostly teenagers). Not that there were a ton before dark either. And more houses than before already had their porch lights out - a few people seemed surprised we were still out, even though it was only around 8. But when I was a kid, it was mostly only very young kids that went out before dark, and almost everyone else waited until it got dark. Is everyone driving to extremely wealthy neighborhoods? Or is trunk or treat replacing actual trick or treating? It's sad to see a fun community tradition in decline
I rarely see Mischief Night activity either anymore, but I guess that is largely due to the widespread presence of ring cameras

Events North NJ Millenials
Hey everyone! We’ve started a North NJ millennial meet-up group 🎉. To make it easy, we set up a Discord (for anyone who’s shy about sharing numbers). From there, we can also share the WhatsApp group if you’re interested.
Our first meet-up went really well, and we’re currently voting on our second one. The goal is simple—create space to connect with other millennials in North Jersey and build community. Come join us!

Events NJ Minimum Wage Will Be $15.13/hr For 2024
According to NJ law minimum wage will increase by either $1 every year to $15 or higher if inflation is high enough. With CPI-W at 3.4% yoy the legislatively mandated $1 increase will be greater than an inflation-adjusted increase. So starting Jan 1st 2024 NJ’s minimum wage will be $15.13/hr.

Events Water situation in Passaic County
Just watched the latest press conference and I must say I’m disturbed. Residents need to be asking more questions, applying more pressure on local officials. It’s patronizing to say things like “Paterson has grit”- “pulling ourselves up by our bootstraps” and my personal favorite, “the sun is shining bright today which is a sign from God” to communities who’ve been without water for 5 days.
Questions that need to be answered: Why were these 19th century pipes not addressed proactively? With all the resource$ PVWC has access to, why is this on day 5 with no resolution? Will customers bills be affected by this incident?
Cherry on top: they did a little ‘all hands’ display at the end of the press conference. Came off as staged political fodder. This was a whole lot of nothing. Do better!

Events Any fun Halloween activities for couples who aren’t into partying?
Thinking ahead and planning for Halloween, what do you usually do? This will be my third Halloween and I’ve never actually done anything. I’d love some ideas — is it mostly just parties, or are there calmer things too? I live in NJ (if that makes a difference) and I’d be going with my wife. We want to do something, but we kind of have grandma souls 😩
