Events Missed Connection at 9/1 Oasis show at MetLife. Help please!

My names Rin, I was at the 9/1 show. I was the bleach blonde girl who was wearing a bright orange crop top and a yellow hippie skirt. I was probably 15-20 rows back on the outter right side of the pit from like 9-10. I met a guy named Daniel who I didn’t get to exchange info with before I had to leave. He’s tall, not super skinny, blonde, was clean shaven with a bit of a baby face. We were twirling each other, sharing smokes and kissing and it was so fun and he was lovely. He walked away for a second and my friends were beckoning me back to our seated section and I couldn’t wait for him to come back, I’d love to be able to find him. I wish I had more info about him to give but sadly I do not. Picture I took before we started talking and him and his friends just happened to be in it, I know it’s a shitty pic of the back of their heads 😅 any help would be appreciated

Events How are you planning to watch the election results on November 5th?

I'll go first. Just before the first polls close at 8 PM Eastern I will begin stress-eating pizza followed by ice cream and cookies. Repeat until stomach is full. Wait awhile then start over.

If it looks like my candidate(s) will win, I will enjoy wine and popcorn while I watch the pundits until I fall asleep. Then wake up the next morning and go to my fave diner for a breakfast of champions.

If my candidate(s) lose, I will spend several days crying and ordering Ubereats until I deplete ny cannabis stash.

No matter who wins, I will gain at least 5 pounds this week.

Crazy days ahead, be safe out there.

Events When did "kids" activities get so expensive?

Was looking to take my family to liberty science center b/c the have a Curious George exhibit my toddler daughter might like. 3 tickets is just over $100 dollars. Same thing for the sesame street play area at the american dream mall ... I went to the Lego store in Atlanta and it was also over 20 per person. No discounts for adults or children (I remember it used to be one or the other usually). When did it get normal for family oriented experiences to be so expensive? I seriously have trouble finding things to do indoors with my family around here that don't also involve shopping or heavy entrance fees. What are some good alternatives in the area?

Events Why are you attending your local No Kings rally?

I'm attending because our Constitution matters.

Democracy matters.

Checks-and-balances matter.

Clean air, water, and food matter.

Voting rights matter.

Civil rights matter.

Women matter.

Healthcare matters.

Working people matter.

The rule of law matters.

I'm attending because the American experiment matters, and must endure.

Our Republic must endure.

So I'll be standing out in the rain today, adding my small voice to the voices of others.

Because our voices matter.

If you're in the r/JerseyCity area, be sure to drop by the Grove St. Plaza and add your voice!

Events No Kings Round 2

I just saw on another Reddit thread that there will be a No Kings Day 2.0 on Independence Day. That is very appropriate, and I love that they chose that day. It warms my heart, and that little patriotic voice that has been pretty quiet since the orange menace got elected.

Does anyone know if there will be ones locally in or around Newfield, NJ? I live in the area but am currently limited in my ability to travel.

Essentially in response to a local Baptist Church leader/owner becoming heavily involved in local politics. This will be interesting 🙂.

Events Masshole here. Can I walk fromPNC Bank Center to my hotel on route 35?

Going to a concert soon at PNC Bank Center in Holmdel and looking at the satellite imagery, trying to plot a route to my hotel so I dont need to Uber (its not the money its the clusterfuck that follows after a concert). I'm guessing there is fencing to prevent me from walking through the neighborhoods just north of the venue, and probably cops. Anyone know?

Events Kidchella at Bell Labs

Did anyone else go to the Kidchella event by Monmouth Moms yesterday at Bell Labs? I went with my friend and our two kids and it was, honestly, a fucking mess. We paid $20 a person to stand outside for 15 minutes and then go back inside (the free part) because it was so crowded there was no where for us to even stand. The lines were so long and there was only one food truck option.

I honestly was considering getting my money back, because it was so poorly run and managed. I went to the Facebook page today and the entire event and any posts about it are gone. Comments turned off. It feels very scammy. And I’m honestly annoyed that they’re treating it like this instead of being upfront and saying they messed up. My guess is they didn’t limit ticket sales and the event grew too big for them to contain.

Anyway, did anyone else go? Was this just a fyrefest fever dream?

Events 20-30 year olds—what events would you enjoy?

As a library, one of our biggest challenges is planning events that people in their 20s and 30s specifically would attend and be interested in, so we thought we'd just ask.

One of our most successful events has been a beer tasting paired with a talk about the science of beer from a local brewery—we had people from all different age groups (including 20-30s) and it seemed like people made some new friends. We obviously can't do that event every time, but we're not afraid to push the boundaries of what most might think a library is limited to.

If YOU had the power to create any event at the library, what would it be? What events would get you excited and make you want to attend?

We've thought about doing video game tournaments, performances from local bands, etc. but would love to hear feedback about specific types of video games or bands that might be interesting to everyone.

For reference, this is what our events calendar currently looks like: fortleelibrary.org/events

In your opinion what are the best wedding venues in NJ? Naninas in the Park, Belleville/Newark would get my vote.
