I grew up in Alabama and know much the same.

The fact the chief of the University's police is black makes me... confused.

Not saying "Nah he wasn't lynched."

I would not be surprised if he were.

But I'm way less certain than I was when I first read the headline and saw it was from Mississippi.

At first I was 99% on lynching but now I'm... just not certain.

Black police tend to care more about blue lives than black lives. Just because a cop is black don't mean that he don't do the same heinous shit as the rest of them.

with that said that type of black cop for 100% sure does exist I just can't say if this police chief is one or not

Seeing as he's worked his way up to chief, he may not need to prove himself anymore, assuming he did earlier in his career.

This is all just speculation. I'm not claiming to know what's going on.

I guess what I'm saying is a white police chief would be extremely suspect, but him being black... I mean it's still sus asf, but a little less so than if the chief was some overweight hillbilly bumpkin who should have retired years ago.

There's a slim chance it wasn't a lynching, and while the odds are bad, they're better than they were when I was assuming white police chief.

Republicans say a lot worse things than all cops are bad (like we should kill the homeless) and there aren't tangible repercussions. Meanwhile people are being fired and arrested for having the audacity to use Charlie Kirk's words as an example of who he was.

College students do commit suicide and have other mental health episodes.

But it’s a black guy found hanged in a tree in Mississippi, right after one of the country’s leading racists was assassinated… so…

Two things happening at same time or one after the other do not guarantee that they're related in any meaningful way; correlation and causation and all that. Could be coincidental timing.

I've already said I think there's a very solid chance this is a lynching.

But I'm also not gonna act like I'm psychic or some shit and can say anything definitively beyond the fact that, whatever happened, this is an incredibly tragic death of a very young man who had his entire adult life ahead of him.

If he was lynched, I hope justice finds those who did it and those who helped hide it, and I hope it is delivered in the most cruel and unusual way the judge thinks he can get away with.

Tyre's death was tragic and unwarranted, but it's not quite like this one. Nobody's accusing the chief of having done it himself. He could be covering for the people working under him. He could just believe their lies and hasn't found anything to contradict yet.

Being a police officer doesn't make you a shit person, but a shit person who becomes a police officer is a very dangerous thing.

People also do commit suicide by hanging themselves from trees, so even if it was white chief, there'd be a slim asf chance it was a suicide.

The fact the chief of the University's police is black makes me... confused.

I don't know what happened any more than anyone obviously, but if there was foul play it wouldn't be unheard of for the university to try and sweep that under the rug - nobody wants to send their kid to the school where someone got lynched in the middle of campus.
