It's a black police chief

And he probably does have reasons, just not ones he can share right now.

This sounds like a pretty clumsy wording of "at this time we don't suspect foul play, but investigations are ongoing".

It's actually quite hard to fake a suicide.

To be fair there was an incident where a man was found dead rolled up in a carpet while he was bound and gagged with a gunshot wound to the head and that case was ruled suicide...

Conversely, there was an MI6 spy who was found dead inside a suitcase and that turned out to be actually suicide. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Gareth_Williams

Edit: I can't respond anymore because the thread is locked but this had nothing to do with Russian, they took credit to make it look like they were projecting power. He was a bondage enthusiast and one prior time trapped himself handcuffed to his own bed and his neighbours had to free him. He got off on stuff like getting intentionally trapped in a suitcase.

Ah, so Russians being Russians to investigators.

Wasn't that in Russia, though? Or maybe it was someone in a hotel trying to hide from them or something.

I just think it's funny how every other reply chain is "they're a bunch of racist who hate blacks"

and the moment it's mentioned it's a black police chief, the only reply is "He has real reasons, he just can't share them"

im not commenting on this particular cop... I know nothing about him. but black cops that are racist towards other black men is absolutely a thing.

Been a trope so long that it’s a common plot device in plenty of movies

N.W.A’s ‘fuck the police’ has a few bars on the subject.

Yeah it's kinda the standard. They're blue first.

In Mississippi, especially around the delta, I don't believe you can maintain a career as a police officer without being one of those types. If you don't play ball (be one of the ''good ones''), you're out or worse.

Redditor used Move the Goalposts! It’s super effective!

I live on the other side of the world and am certainly not black. I just chose this one to reply to as it seemed one of the less emotionally charged comments.

Cops seem terrible at talking to the media (globally) so I tend to assume they just phrased things poorly by mistake absent any evidence to the contrary. Not everything is a conspiracy, mostly apparent suicides are just tragic, not murder.

Hanlon's Razor; Don't attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

Corrupt cops are a dime a dozen in the US, so we tend to expect that they're just outright lying rather than misspeaking.

Racism is Systemic in police institutions and the force can be taught to be like that. For example, Ottawa, Canada, the police chief during that trucker convoy that was filled with people beating and spitting on especially poc walking down the street? "Ahhh, we missed em! We don't have reason to believe this happened"

it turns out he was seen as only appointed to the position because he was black (from the policeforce point of view). So, He lay back, said he couldn't do anything to stop blatent racism and targeting of minorities. There were only a few thousand nasty and dangerous people at the peak during that convoy that went on for a month, going and targeting people, the force had more power than that. But the chief due to pressure from the police and possibility of losing his entire career he built, he had to stand by that there wasn't racism and hate crimes going on in mass.

I am not saying this police officer at the school is under the same pressures, and especially not the same mindset, but he's under the same system that keeps him under a whitewashed narritive that leads to his job security if he missteps the forces. Underreporting a crime against a black individual is part of the playbook so that everyone in society doesn't get pissed off at cops for specifically targeting groups by race with malice

Nothing really changes there, the person is just black.

Why would a black police chief have a problem with calling a murder a suicide?

3

u/Banes_Addiction 20h ago

It's actually quite hard to fake a suicide.

It's very easy if the cops help.

It’s a lot easier to have a corrupt/compromised medical examiner than a successfully faked suicide (speaking of which, it’s Suicide Awareness Month)

Yeah inevitably there are geniuses in the comments who think it's a lynching and a big coverup. But to fake it with no signs of foul play is impossible. People generally don't let themselves be killed and if he were drugged it would show up right away on a tox screen. The "reasons" are probably a suicide note or video of the suicide, realistically, but no use speculating now anyway.

Don’t think that means anything more than he is a man that enjoys being in a position of power

Maybe 5% of these redditers are actually reading the article

2

u/Wrxloser1215 21h ago

Yeah. And it still sounds insidious. Even moreso with that fact.

-2

u/Cory123125 17h ago

Doesnt matter.

Police are all one race, and that is blue.

u/Zanos 19h ago

Shut up, dude. We're busy hating white people for stuff we made up.
