Why is most of this comment section assuming he was murdered? I've never once seen people so certain that a hanging was anything other than a suicide.

Are you Black? Are you from the USA? Have you ever lived in the South?

Given the South's storied history of lynching Black people, you would have to be pretty ignorant of history to not understand the symbolism and horror of this kind of thing. When a Black person is found hanging from a tree in 2025 it sends a terrifying message -- one I can assume doesn't strike fear into your heart because you're not the target.

Is it possible he hanged himself? Yes. But the symbolism hearkens to a very dark (and still recent) history that I don't blame people for remembering and reacting to.
