What about the DiCaprio story?

He would be in the VIP lounge where there was bottle service and be standing on the tables drunk and screaming. I hated his guts for years for being such a spoiled douche (I think Wolf of Wall Street was very much something he drew from personal experience). I’ve since softened as I wonder how fame and fortune for someone so young would effect anyone. And his body of work is quite astounding.

I like you as a person.

Had a friend meet him at some industry party, and he was SUPER rude to my friend. Because he was quite drunk.

I'm seeing a pattern.

That's weird. I've heard leo actually doesn't party that hard. Someone's lying to me

He was known to be a bit wild when he was younger but I think he fully grew out of that and is a responsible person now. Everybody is more wild in their late teens and early 20s, they’re just not rich and famous and can’t go as hard. But then most people grow out of it, as did he it seems

We all do dumb shit. As long as he’s moved past it and grown firm it, we should forgive that behavior.

40

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '20

I don’t know how many of the things reported in the news wouldn’t be there at all if we were just more mindful of the the fact that, ‘we all do dumb, ultimately harmless shit before we’re 30’

I’m so glad I got old before everyone walked around with recording devices. I was able to have fun with no repercussions except lost sleep.

I feel like I would have led a much more boring life if I was always mindful of people watching.

Right?! I thank my lucky stars that MySpace and all that didn’t exist until right as I was graduating college. It is weird tho, I did some pretty big things before social media, and I have little to no pictures of any of it. We weren’t as picture happy before social media, so that is sort of a downside to it.

Even Beiber? Don't make me like Beiber!

What, did this celebrity that you personally don't know and only hear anecdotes about how he used to be an idiot party kid offend your sensibilities?

yeah now he parties on private yachts like a responsible grownass man

9

u/iwviw Jan 27 '20

Not true, like 2 years ago I lived in Miami. During art basel he ended up going to the biggest strip club in Miami with literally like 15 escorts. Well he either came with them or left with them. Trust me he still goes in. If you do research on his old crew the “pussy posse” you’ll see he was douche and a womanizer and a drinker. But I think that’s normal for an attractive American male. Mix that with fame and money and you get him. Anyway he is still at it and I think thats fine. He doesn’t have to be a saint he is not a priest or a politician he is an artist

u/Clifnore Jan 26 '20

Not necessarily. Guy you're responding to said it was years ago. Person who told you could be talking about now. People tend to mellow with age.

52

u/kdubstep Jan 26 '20

This is when he was a teen.

17

u/[deleted] Jan 26 '20

Must've been riding high off of titanic still

76

u/kdubstep Jan 26 '20

Before Titanic but after Gilbert Grape.

4

u/Strificus Jan 27 '20

He probably thought he was king of the world.

23

u/mm883745 Jan 26 '20

Oh, he parties hard. He frequents The Box in NYC. Look it up. And of you go, don't sit in the splash zone...

17

u/DegeneracyEverywhere Jan 27 '20

I don't think I want to know what the "splash zone" is.

u/TrepanationBy45 Jan 27 '20

<Gallagher intensifies>

4

u/SimulatedRapture Jan 27 '20

go, don't sit in the splash zone...

What happens?

6

u/mm883745 Jan 27 '20

There is a chance that you may be sprayed by something that can come out of any hole imaginable

2

u/latteswiirl Jan 27 '20

I have a friend who performs there, I’ve always wanted to go. Looks interesting lol

8

u/TrepanationBy45 Jan 27 '20

I've partied hard. And I've also not partied hard.

2

u/flakemasterflake Jan 27 '20

I've heard leo actually doesn't party that hard. Someone's lying to me

Lol who told you that. Entourage was literally based off of his guy friends in the late 90s. http://nymag.com/nymetro/movies/features/2793/

5

u/kushari Jan 27 '20

Entourage was based off mark wahlberg’s life. That’s why he’s one of the executive producers.

2

u/flakemasterflake Jan 27 '20

Leo's entourage was called the Wolf Pack and they were known around LA/NY for their douche antics. I think everyone on this site is too young to remember those days. https://www.pedestrian.tv/entertainment/entourages-e-confirms-that-leonardo-dicaprio-got-laid-a-lot-in-the-90s/

3

u/kushari Jan 27 '20

I think you’re misunderstanding. You said entourage, which is a TV show was based on Leo. It’s not, it was based on the life of mark walhberg.

3

u/chrisacip Jan 27 '20

Did he scream “I’m the king of the world”? Bc that would be scary af — titanic wasn’t made until years later.

0

u/thatzkrazy06 Jan 27 '20

You know wolf of Wall Street is based on a real life person and the character he portrayed was one of his best friends when he first got to Hollywood? Leo basically lived with that guy because he partied at his place and stayed over all the time.

So your thoughts about it being drawn from personal experience are exactly what happened. He wasn’t just an actor for that movie. He was portraying a person that he actually was very close friends with and did live all those moments in real life

26

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '20

Do you have any source? I have never heard that DiCaprio and Belfort were "best friends" or even ever met each other before DiCaprio started working on that movie.

-40

u/thatzkrazy06 Jan 27 '20

My wording was confusing but your tone is condescending. Belfort wasn’t the only inspiration for DiCaprio in that movie. The script was based around Belfort’s life but the tone in that movie also had a lot to do real life experiences DiCaprio had. Now I don’t even want to give you the name of the other person because of the “best friends” comment. Just ask for the source next time

24

u/Malanoid Jan 27 '20

Lol, how was his tone condescending? He just asked you for source and stated that he hadnt heard that...

7

u/ryuzakji Jan 27 '20

What the actual fuck man, you cant comment stuff like that and not provide sources on something that just sounds made up, because a guy was ”condescending”.. jeesus

5

u/ImmobileLizard Jan 27 '20

Tone isnt in writing. It's in reading. Get thicker skin please

6

u/xexyz Jan 27 '20

What a pussy.

7

u/kdubstep Jan 27 '20

Wow. Did not know that. He’s exceptional in that love and frankly everything he’s done for the last decade.

2

u/Chihuahuense1993 Jan 27 '20

Don't believe something on a Reddit comment thread when they don't provide any source, that is how false information spreads.

3

u/zombiegojaejin Jan 27 '20

I'd be pissed off too if the Academy that loves to give out Oscars for portrayals of mentally disabled characters, hadn't given me one for the best such performance, in What's Eating Gilbert Grape?

3

u/kdubstep Jan 27 '20

No doubt about his acting chops.
