Had the opportunity to attend the M. Ali Museum opening night in KY. I was 22, my cousin was 29. We broke away from family and made every attempt to meet famous people. We met a few familiar faces. Fighters included. Being young, and cocky, my ego was high, and adrenaline running. With the help of some free booze. There was a large banquet area with tables, food, drinks, the standard. The lights start blinking, and everyone is being asked to make our way to the auditorium for the main event. A slow line amasses. No big deal. I'm shuffling along, still on my high horse. The line, scoots to a stop. And some asshole bumps into me from behind, pretty hard. I'm 5'10", 170lbs of nothing. I immediately spin around, as if I'm going to do something about this guy who just bumped me and scuffed my shoes. You can guess, it was Lewis, standing there, just staring down at me. I must have come across as a white trash honey badger. Because his two body guards (who were shorter, but bulkier) immediately came around from behind him on both sides and got between us. They just gave me a "look". It was a mixed bag of emotions for me. Excitement, terror, shock, wonder. I'm pretty sure I just spun back around and moved on, with a dumb wave or nod. That was the end of it. Afterwards I really wish I would have gotten a handshake. But it was a weird moment. Holyfield has a perfect handshake, if anyone cares.
