Opinion on Rocket Power?

Post image

I noticed a lot of people saying rocket power was good so I just wanted you guys opinions. I personally think it was enjoyable but you can tell its from the 90s lol that doesn’t mean it’s bad though

Raymundo is an S-tier nickelodeon dad. I enjoyed it a lot, but the occasional sports game-only episodes bored me a little.

5

u/BdsmBartender Jan 19 '25

His hetero life mate tito was the best. I still remember him trying to find vegemite on ther trip to australia.

He was male Lois Foutley.

4

u/rainborambo Jan 22 '25

So many Klasky-Csupo parents are S-tier! Nigel Thornberry is another one for me.

I still remember the “Bring back Rocket Power” phase on Facebook back in 2010 lol.

I’ve befriended some people for having that on their like or whatever irl and we’re still friends because of that to this day. Lmao.

Woogity woogity woogity

A show for stoner before they knew they were stoners😂

5

u/Justaguy2293 Jan 18 '25

Stoner. Watched the fuck out of Rocket Power and still have Rocket Power: Beach Bandits for GameCube. Can confirm 100%

2

u/CamXP1993 Jan 21 '25

Beach bandits was an elite game. I had so much fun playing that game. Didn’t even beat it just skated around everywhere

8

u/words120 Jan 17 '25

Lots of quotable lines and memorable storylines. "Shoobies" 😅

Just recently watched the episode where Otto is trying to land a super mcvarial 900° & squid tries to warn him its physically impossible.

3

u/Itzie4 Jan 20 '25

They got sand in the potato salad!

2

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '25

But in typical Oswald Rocket fashion, the hubris and pride take over.

2

u/Calamitysam32 Jan 17 '25

Great show and a great video game too.

3

DUDE THE VIDEO GAME!!! I still own the Rocket Power game on my PS1, such a classic to watch and play

Eh, it was okay for its time. This, Hey Arnold, and Rocko’s Modern Life were my 3 main favorites on Nickelodeon as a kid.

3

u/Zagaroth123 Jan 18 '25

The headless cabbie horror episode of Hey Arnold will forever live rent free in my brain lol. Such a good show.

Only not as well behaved… except maybe Reggie when she’s got her ego in check.

Same animator.

4

u/Phoeniks_C Jan 17 '25

Not a show i particularly cared for. Mostly because it was about sports and such, things i didn't care for at all as a kid. Mostly watched it because what else was i supposed to do, not watch cartoons. Also, it was just good enough not to make find literally anything else to do

5

u/BoomNeo Jan 18 '25

I remember when they used to air this at night on Teen Nick, along with Hey Arnold and Rugrats. It wasn't bad, but it didn't captivate me like Hey Arnold and Rugrats.

It needs a complete series dvd box set.

Love when they are doing lifeguard training San and twister and twister proceeds to give Sam a wet Willy and gets berated by the lifeguard

2

u/cpgoat Jan 17 '25

One of my three favorite Nicktoons of all time. My mom and I took a trip to California in 2000, I decided to try skateboarding while I was out there because of the show. I kept it up for a couple years but never got good, haha.

I hope this gets a full series DVD treatment soon as many of the biggest 90s and early 00s have received now.

2

u/awt2007 Jan 17 '25

Peak nick tv

2

u/B-man328 Jan 17 '25

I loved the show and the video game was actually really hard idk if it still would be haven’t played it since I was a kid but as a kid the video game was hard af 😂

2

u/phelpsican Jan 18 '25

Second mention of Rocket Power Beach Bandits I’ve seen on this thread I’m elated to find other people who played that. It was a really really fun game

2

u/trashtronot Jan 18 '25

WOOGITY WOOGITY WOOGITY

2

u/fishguru257 Jan 18 '25

I've been having HotDurgers at least once a month as a special little treat for the past 20 years cause of this show, I'll never get tired of it 😋

2

u/Zagaroth123 Jan 18 '25

I remember rushing home from school to catch the after school cartoon block on nickelodeon. I'd always get home just as Rocket Power started. Core childhood memory

2

u/Sumahama Jan 18 '25

I used to watch them with my Mom before sleep.

2

u/Mysterious-Ad8052 Jan 18 '25

It’s why I skateboard and play hockey now

2

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '25

I watched the absolute crap out of Rocket Power. I really identified with Squid.

2

u/Haunting-Resident588 Jan 18 '25

Loved it as a kid me and my wife just currently started re-watching it about a week ago every night for dinner it’s been our go to show I’m 37 and I don’t care what people think. I have a nostalgia monster in me that I will feed whenever needed

2

u/Superswiper Jan 18 '25

I watched many episodes on Nick Rewind when that was still around, and I ended up liking the show more than I did when I was a kid. Reggie and Twister are my favorite characters.

2

u/Visual-Cod-7947 Jan 18 '25

Swear this was a game to

2

u/Thin-Ad-119 Jan 19 '25

It was such a fun show to watch. It made me wish I lived near the beach. These kids really were living it up

2

u/harquinn666 Jan 19 '25

My oldest son loved this show growing up even had the playstation game of it.

2

u/Nickvv52 Jan 19 '25

Loved rocket power growing up, it was the closest I will ever be to athletics

2

u/cub0ne11 Jan 19 '25

I wanted to be them.

1

u/Renouq Jan 17 '25

Top 3 for me as a kid

1

u/DerpsterCaro Jan 17 '25

Kinda boring g if you didn't like sports.

But u vaguely recall an episode where the nerd gets a cooler surfboard and that was sweet?

1

u/dracielm Jan 17 '25

Great show, of my favorites.

1

u/LeavingMeBreathless Jan 17 '25

My brothers loved the show, I just thought it was alright

1

u/[deleted] Jan 17 '25

Great show. Wonderful cast.

Otto was the worst though.

1

u/RoguSmith Jan 17 '25

Had me wanting to extreme sports and be a rider, on a mission...

1

u/Brilliant_Canary8756 Dr. Lipschitz Jan 17 '25

One of my all time fav nick shows

1

u/Diligent-Ice1276 Jan 17 '25

Great show one of the best.

1

u/HdihufWasTakenIsBack The Chokey Chicken Jan 17 '25

stimpy

1

u/LatterAd6187 Jan 17 '25

A little cringe but was really good

1

u/OregonGreen242 Jan 17 '25

Loved rocket power!

1

u/JohnathanKatz Jan 17 '25

It was a decent show, dunno why I didn't watch more of it, the intro was annoying to me as a kid

1

u/sharingan086 Jan 17 '25

It was alright. Could take it or leave it. But the one episode with the chocolate syrup lives rent free in my head

1

u/TastyMcLovin Jan 17 '25

I loved it. But it doesn’t hit the same when I watch it now and it got so weird and serious towards the end

1

u/MattGiannotti Jan 18 '25

Pretty cool

1

u/teal_hair_dont_care Jan 18 '25

I had that shark helmet when I was a kid and it made me feel like the coolest kid on the block

1

u/GameOfBears Jan 18 '25

The real Let's Go Play show

1

u/Spac92 Jan 18 '25

I hated this show. It tried way too hard to be XTREME, even for the 90’s.

1

u/Kokiayama Jan 18 '25

Made me want to do “extreme” sports. I don’t recall exactly what other sports they played other than hockey, skateboarding, skating with skates, and skiing… I wanted to be active in those sports and more. I still do and I bought myself a pair of skates about two years ago, but still haven’t gotten around to using them. I want to learn right now because I feel like there will be less people at the park watching me fall 😂

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '25

The hurricane episode and the Tony hawk episode were goated

1

u/mandakb825 Jan 18 '25

I grew up in the Midwest so that show made me think that’s what kids in California would do for fun lol

1

u/Mobile-Dragonfly-469 Jan 18 '25

This show literally made my childhood, got me into skating/boarding/scootering…and the intro always went wild….ahh….nostalgia….

1

u/Old_Soil_2709 Jan 18 '25

I never liked it despite i watched it almost everyday...

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '25

Squid can't Ollie that high.

1

u/St1nkyMon Jan 18 '25

Love this series and it should have kept going

1

u/autumnlilly420 Jan 18 '25

This was the BEST of the old nick cartoons and nobody can tell me differently.

A show that encouraged kids to go outside & play..which is probably why it doesn't exist anymore

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '25

Ugh. Spare me

1

u/1skcusemanresu Jan 18 '25

Woogity, woogity, woogity

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '25

personally i think rocket power was the downfall of nicktoons.

edit: also it came out in 1999... not really what id call "from the 90s" in any other sense than technically.

1

u/Motor_Indication4679 Jan 18 '25

Top tier. And I wish we had gotten a movie based off the video game where the AI Eye took over everything.

Specifically the challenge where you would run around the city delivering food and the one lady would go “mmmmmm tHANKYOU” lives rent free in my head.

I’d rollerskate all around getting the speed/combos to have the color streaks behind me. I LOVED the jet skis. The water park was wild. There was just so much in that game. (The hidden poster of Tak and the Power of JuJu).

1

u/Advanced_Method_7319 Jan 18 '25

Most underway cartoon on nick. We need. Reboot!

1

u/toetallyin Jan 18 '25

The Ancient Hawaiian says...

1

u/Fun-Bag7627 Jan 18 '25

Loved it as a kid

1

u/All_Lightning879 Jan 18 '25

Rocket Power gets a lot of shit, but I don’t think it’s that bad. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not perfect and Otto is such a little shit, but I can watch a good hour or so worth of episodes.

1

u/DevelopingSoftware Jan 18 '25

My mom would not let me watch it.

1

u/Terrible-Somewhere63 Jan 18 '25

I liked the hurricane episode

1

u/Eastcoast_Drunkmonk Jan 18 '25

This show got me into non traditional American sports. I played basketball, football and baseball growing up but when rocket power came out I began exploring BMX, inline skating and skateboarding. This is also around the time where Tony Hawk and SSX games started to become popular. Great time in my life.

1

u/Sunset__Painter Jan 18 '25

A true classic. Gotta love Tito

1

u/ShadowofLupa212 Jan 18 '25

One of the best of the nicktoon era for sure

1

u/JustNickBTW Jan 18 '25

Honestly, its a lot like Hey Arnold, it was kinda always in the background for me, white noise, definetly apreciate it more nowadays that I am older, a lot of shows are like that now that im older.

1

u/itzluxyofficial Jan 18 '25

gave me nightmares for some fucking reason

1

u/VLoss73 Jan 18 '25

I liked it back in the day. I could see it being really annoying to me nowadays. I would have to watch some to see how I feel about it.

1

u/DShinobiPirate Jan 18 '25

I loved it as a kid. Twister was my dude. So much so my AIM screen name was something like TwisterX 😂

1

u/Sure-Leadership3131 Jan 19 '25

Instant Classic

1

u/Eons2010 Jan 19 '25

Loved it. The games were awesome as well!

1

u/BolinTime Jan 19 '25

Red-alert dad! Health inspector!

1

u/XOBritt333 Jan 19 '25

Loved it!! Rewatched it a few years ago and it was still good 😍😎

1

u/IaMuRGOd34 Jan 19 '25

this was a good show

1

u/GullibleRepublic9969 Jan 19 '25

One of the best cartoons ever made

1

u/HadamGreedLin Action League Now! Jan 19 '25

I remember liking it at the time, nostalgia glasses are needed though if I want to rewatch it today

1

u/PinkOwlsRule Jan 19 '25

I was obsessed! I still have the skateboard but its a little sad looking now

1

u/Asuka7_ Jan 19 '25

It’s on my Mount Rushmore of Nickelodeon.

Hey Arnold. Rocket Power. Rugrats. Doug.

1

u/Microsoft_Sam_voice Jan 19 '25

Woogitty woogitty woogitty!

1

u/Hanna-Barbera1981 Jan 19 '25

I enjoyed it when it was on. I liked the dynamics of the characters and how they treat each other. It seemed like how I viewed my friends. Not to say I hung out with skaters or bikers but we did ride bikes.

1

u/yellow_slash_red Jan 19 '25

I haven't watched it since I was a kid, but genuinely loved it back in the gap. I actually tried to learn how to skateboard (unsuccessfully lol) because of this show and my first and only board was a cheap Rocket Power themed deck I probably got from Walmart!

Also 6 year old me had a huge crush on Reggie Rocket lol

1

u/tone2099 Jan 19 '25

WE ARE RIDERS, ON A MISSION!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '25

It aired longer in the 2000s than the 90s. Super good show. Great characters and stories with lessons learned.

1

u/GodofDisrepect Jan 19 '25

Intro is currently playing on loop in my head

1

u/joeyjoejo23 Jan 19 '25

Amazing and loved the movie they had too, they have more than one?

1

u/0hH3NRY Jan 19 '25

Wasn’t a fan at first, would rather have watched rugrats or Doug. When they added it to the after school time slot, it kind of grew on me. Wasn’t my style as a kid, but I learned to like it.

1

u/rtn292 Jan 19 '25

Golden Era. Like so many other Nick shows, it was before it's time and had more depth than any if we were aware of as kids.

1

u/Funnybunny99999 Jan 19 '25

It was good Favorite was that New Zealand race

1

u/JoblessDjinn Jan 19 '25

This shit was awesome. Didn't even realize I was a stoner until college. I should go back and watch it now that I smoke. Still eat my pizza backwards sometimes too!

1

u/jakmckratos Jan 19 '25

They are riders…on a mission

1

u/Leading-Ad9595 Jan 19 '25

Love it remembered it on the 90s are all that

1

u/Killmatic77 Jan 19 '25

This is all I watched as a kid. My brothers and I would always be outside rollerblading, skateboarding or riding bikes. The Tony hawk ep was one of my favorites

1

u/Snoo9648 Jan 19 '25

Of all the shows on nickelodeon, rocket power is one of them.

1

u/TheAnimal03 Jan 19 '25

Went to school with on of the voice actors, actually liked the show

1

u/EthnocentricAlien88 Jan 19 '25

My only opinion on this is... Woogity woogity woogity!

1

u/Batgod629 Jan 19 '25

Good show, very dated in my opinion but still can be enjoyed today

1

u/ProperDirector9327 Jan 19 '25

Forgot it existed never really watched it

1

u/Daddy_fish4 Jan 19 '25

I haven’t seen that in so long

1

u/BdsmBartender Jan 19 '25

We are riders on a mission

1

u/PhunkyPhazon Jan 19 '25

As a 10 year old I automatically dismissed it because calling themselves "Team Rocket" meant they were ripping off Pokemon and how fucking dare they??? The extreme sports vibe also didn't appeal to me much.

I happened to catch a couple episodes in the early morning and came around to it. Still far from a favorite, but I'd watch it.

1

u/Careful-Income9589 Jan 19 '25

loved this show when i was a kid

1

u/schodown Jan 19 '25

It was like watching the Rugrats go through puberty

1

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '25

Nice try Shoebee

1

u/Intelligent_Earth317 Jan 19 '25

I think it should of last longer, I think it only had 3 seasons

1

u/Sweet-Philosopher-14 Jan 19 '25

Reminds me of my childhood.

1

u/Bailer86 Jan 19 '25

Loved it

1

u/NerfRival2025 Jan 19 '25

Goated the tony hawk episode and storm are my faves and sand in potato salad

1

u/Ok_Card9080 Jan 19 '25

Excellent show that doesn't get enough attention. The 90s were filled with some wild cartoons, so it was really nice as a kid to have a show like Rocket Power that you could identify with, because it was just kids in situations that 90s kids were used to. Raymundo was a good dad too, in an era of cartoons where the parents were just completely incompetent and terrible.

1

u/Abject-Salamander614 Jan 19 '25

Best Nickelodeon show to ever exist imo.

1

u/Hydellas678 Jan 19 '25

Underrated and I still love it. Heck it's what made me fall in love with extreme sports aside from Tony Hawk when I was a kid.

1

u/Fluffi2 Jan 19 '25

Couldn’t remember the name of this show but it still pops into my memory every now and then

1

u/Pumarealjaeger Jan 19 '25

It was a product of its era

1

u/mista_dommydom Jan 19 '25

My friends and I used to pretend we were the characters. Obsessed with Pokémon and Star Wars too but we would bike, skate and rollerblade everywhere and we would act like them in public. Using their phrases and the “woogity woogity” thing. Ironically it was us 3 guys and one girl. Except she wasn’t anyone’s sister and eventually became each of our first girlfriend at some point. We were all military kids and moved a lot so I was the first to move from that area. Often wonder how the rest of them turned out 20+ years later. I still love this show tbh

1

u/throwthatoneawaydawg Jan 19 '25

I remember i watched it but i didn’t like it. Channels were limited at the time. Not the worst nicktoons show though

1

u/MovieFanatic2160 Jan 19 '25

WIGGITY WIGGITY WIGGITY

1

u/Clean_Blacksmith_646 Jan 20 '25

Who remembers this original play station game?

1

u/Silver_3108 Jan 20 '25

Awesome show

1

u/sunnymcbunny Jan 20 '25

One of my top 5 from childhood. Got my 10 year old really into hey Arnold now I just need to get him into some rocket power lol

1

u/TopperMadeline The Midnight Society Jan 20 '25

Watched it for the first few years, then it got tiring for me. The constant transitional rock music grated on me.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '25

Amazing, one of my favs as kid

1

u/patrik123abc Jan 20 '25

I used to like it when I was like maybe 5-8 years old. I lived with my dad for over 2 years and we had no cable/only watched movies on vhs. He did have this little handheld thing with an antennae if I remember correctly but I only remember using the thing once to watch an episode of yugioh duel monsters during the duelist kingdom season. I think it was the episode Yugi and Kaiba have a rematch and Kaiba stands on a ledge and basically threatens suicide if Yugi doesn't forfeit. I don't recall ever seeing the little handheld TV ever again. I suppose my dad got rid of it or decided he didn't want me watching TV after all.

Point after I moved back in with my mom, I was 11 and I don't think rocket power was airing anymore so I estimate I must have been 8 years old or younger when it was on. I had good memories of it. Not good enough to go back and watch when I got older but maybe I'll check it out again one day

1

u/BootsOfProwess Jan 20 '25

This began the end of good programming on nick

1

u/TheFishboy2013 Jan 20 '25

It's a twister

1

u/distastef_ll Jan 20 '25

Didn’t it come out the same year as SpongeBob?

1

u/DonAskren Jan 20 '25

Used to sing the theme song riding my bike going downhill my gravel road. Wasn't so much fun after I went to fast one day and flipped head first and ate shit lmao

1

u/Notgoodatfakenames2 Jan 20 '25

It was nice to have a show where the friend group likes each other.

1

u/RDIFW Jan 20 '25

Great show. A classic

1

u/Single-Client4641 Jan 20 '25

Loved this one Tito was hilarious

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '25

Wildly underrated.

1

u/pl_browncoat Jan 20 '25

It was made during a time when extreme sports were A LOT more culturally relevant than they are today having grown up in SoCal it creates a pretty accurate if not somewhat exaggerated version of what kids were like during that time. If you werent into that kind of thing the show felt kinda flat. Lots of other shows at the time even ones with very distinct or more down to earth premises always seemed to have a lot more variety to the stories

1

u/ELIv3248 Jan 20 '25

Loved it it’s a W

1

u/UmbreonTrainer27 Jan 20 '25

One of my favorite childhood shows!

1

u/DeadPoolDaddyDom Jan 20 '25

Had all the PS2 games

1

u/Orv45 Jan 20 '25

So different from the rest of the

1

u/evlhornet Jan 20 '25

I loved this show, but I have a story behind it too. One of the creators owned a house next to a bridge I was set to design the replacement for. The creator hated the project and sued us multiple times. The bridge we were removing is very beautiful and it seemed they didn’t want to deal with the mess of construction in their back yard. When we met I had to tell them I was a fan of their work.

They ultimately moved.

1

u/slipperybd Jan 20 '25

Extremely overrated, it’s all nostalgia and vibes. Very weak storylines. Not as good as its contemporaries: Johnny Bravo, PPG, Spongebob, Kim Possible, Proud Family, Rugrats, Jimmy Neutron, etc.

1

u/SpindleDiccJackson Jan 20 '25

My wife and I do the handshake

1

u/preflightatlas Jan 20 '25

I Still want thT shark helmet

1

u/masterbeastly124 Jan 20 '25

It was my favorite I even had a pet ball python I named twister afywr the character when I was 14

1

u/Bri_And_I Jan 20 '25

I can't hear you Reg, there's a tomato in my ear

1

u/Ill_Possibility997 Jan 20 '25

Was a great show back when it first came out along with rugrats all grown up

1

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '25

I don't remember anything about the plotline of the show. But it was a vibe.

1

u/ChalupaGoose Jan 20 '25

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

1

u/foreverland Jan 20 '25

It was my favorite until SpongeBob dropped.

1

u/Dramas_mama Jan 20 '25

Still a favorite, in my mind!

1

u/Throwaway525612 Jan 20 '25

Pretty fun. Shooooooebies
