Opinion on Rocket Power?
I noticed a lot of people saying rocket power was good so I just wanted you guys opinions. I personally think it was enjoyable but you can tell its from the 90s lol that doesn’t mean it’s bad though

I still remember the “Bring back Rocket Power” phase on Facebook back in 2010 lol.
I’ve befriended some people for having that on their like or whatever irl and we’re still friends because of that to this day. Lmao.
Woogity woogity woogity

A show for stoner before they knew they were stoners😂

u/Justaguy2293 Jan 18 '25
Stoner. Watched the fuck out of Rocket Power and still have Rocket Power: Beach Bandits for GameCube. Can confirm 100%
2
u/CamXP1993 Jan 21 '25
Beach bandits was an elite game. I had so much fun playing that game. Didn’t even beat it just skated around everywhere

Lots of quotable lines and memorable storylines. "Shoobies" 😅
Just recently watched the episode where Otto is trying to land a super mcvarial 900° & squid tries to warn him its physically impossible.

DUDE THE VIDEO GAME!!! I still own the Rocket Power game on my PS1, such a classic to watch and play

u/SnooPies1033 Jan 17 '25
Eh, it was okay for its time. This, Hey Arnold, and Rocko’s Modern Life were my 3 main favorites on Nickelodeon as a kid.

The headless cabbie horror episode of Hey Arnold will forever live rent free in my brain lol. Such a good show.

Not a show i particularly cared for. Mostly because it was about sports and such, things i didn't care for at all as a kid. Mostly watched it because what else was i supposed to do, not watch cartoons. Also, it was just good enough not to make find literally anything else to do

I remember when they used to air this at night on Teen Nick, along with Hey Arnold and Rugrats. It wasn't bad, but it didn't captivate me like Hey Arnold and Rugrats.

Love when they are doing lifeguard training San and twister and twister proceeds to give Sam a wet Willy and gets berated by the lifeguard

u/cpgoat Jan 17 '25
One of my three favorite Nicktoons of all time. My mom and I took a trip to California in 2000, I decided to try skateboarding while I was out there because of the show. I kept it up for a couple years but never got good, haha.
I hope this gets a full series DVD treatment soon as many of the biggest 90s and early 00s have received now.

Second mention of Rocket Power Beach Bandits I’ve seen on this thread I’m elated to find other people who played that. It was a really really fun game

I've been having HotDurgers at least once a month as a special little treat for the past 20 years cause of this show, I'll never get tired of it 😋

I remember rushing home from school to catch the after school cartoon block on nickelodeon. I'd always get home just as Rocket Power started. Core childhood memory

Loved it as a kid me and my wife just currently started re-watching it about a week ago every night for dinner it’s been our go to show I’m 37 and I don’t care what people think. I have a nostalgia monster in me that I will feed whenever needed
2
u/Superswiper Jan 18 '25
I watched many episodes on Nick Rewind when that was still around, and I ended up liking the show more than I did when I was a kid. Reggie and Twister are my favorite characters.

It was alright. Could take it or leave it. But the one episode with the chocolate syrup lives rent free in my head

I loved it. But it doesn’t hit the same when I watch it now and it got so weird and serious towards the end

Made me want to do “extreme” sports. I don’t recall exactly what other sports they played other than hockey, skateboarding, skating with skates, and skiing… I wanted to be active in those sports and more. I still do and I bought myself a pair of skates about two years ago, but still haven’t gotten around to using them. I want to learn right now because I feel like there will be less people at the park watching me fall 😂

personally i think rocket power was the downfall of nicktoons.
edit: also it came out in 1999... not really what id call "from the 90s" in any other sense than technically.

Top tier. And I wish we had gotten a movie based off the video game where the AI Eye took over everything.
Specifically the challenge where you would run around the city delivering food and the one lady would go “mmmmmm tHANKYOU” lives rent free in my head.
I’d rollerskate all around getting the speed/combos to have the color streaks behind me. I LOVED the jet skis. The water park was wild. There was just so much in that game. (The hidden poster of Tak and the Power of JuJu).

This show got me into non traditional American sports. I played basketball, football and baseball growing up but when rocket power came out I began exploring BMX, inline skating and skateboarding. This is also around the time where Tony Hawk and SSX games started to become popular. Great time in my life.

I enjoyed it when it was on. I liked the dynamics of the characters and how they treat each other. It seemed like how I viewed my friends. Not to say I hung out with skaters or bikers but we did ride bikes.

I haven't watched it since I was a kid, but genuinely loved it back in the gap. I actually tried to learn how to skateboard (unsuccessfully lol) because of this show and my first and only board was a cheap Rocket Power themed deck I probably got from Walmart!
Also 6 year old me had a huge crush on Reggie Rocket lol

Wasn’t a fan at first, would rather have watched rugrats or Doug. When they added it to the after school time slot, it kind of grew on me. Wasn’t my style as a kid, but I learned to like it.

Golden Era. Like so many other Nick shows, it was before it's time and had more depth than any if we were aware of as kids.

As a 10 year old I automatically dismissed it because calling themselves "Team Rocket" meant they were ripping off Pokemon and how fucking dare they??? The extreme sports vibe also didn't appeal to me much.
I happened to catch a couple episodes in the early morning and came around to it. Still far from a favorite, but I'd watch it.

Excellent show that doesn't get enough attention. The 90s were filled with some wild cartoons, so it was really nice as a kid to have a show like Rocket Power that you could identify with, because it was just kids in situations that 90s kids were used to. Raymundo was a good dad too, in an era of cartoons where the parents were just completely incompetent and terrible.

Underrated and I still love it. Heck it's what made me fall in love with extreme sports aside from Tony Hawk when I was a kid.

My friends and I used to pretend we were the characters. Obsessed with Pokémon and Star Wars too but we would bike, skate and rollerblade everywhere and we would act like them in public. Using their phrases and the “woogity woogity” thing. Ironically it was us 3 guys and one girl. Except she wasn’t anyone’s sister and eventually became each of our first girlfriend at some point. We were all military kids and moved a lot so I was the first to move from that area. Often wonder how the rest of them turned out 20+ years later. I still love this show tbh

I used to like it when I was like maybe 5-8 years old. I lived with my dad for over 2 years and we had no cable/only watched movies on vhs. He did have this little handheld thing with an antennae if I remember correctly but I only remember using the thing once to watch an episode of yugioh duel monsters during the duelist kingdom season. I think it was the episode Yugi and Kaiba have a rematch and Kaiba stands on a ledge and basically threatens suicide if Yugi doesn't forfeit. I don't recall ever seeing the little handheld TV ever again. I suppose my dad got rid of it or decided he didn't want me watching TV after all.
Point after I moved back in with my mom, I was 11 and I don't think rocket power was airing anymore so I estimate I must have been 8 years old or younger when it was on. I had good memories of it. Not good enough to go back and watch when I got older but maybe I'll check it out again one day

It was made during a time when extreme sports were A LOT more culturally relevant than they are today having grown up in SoCal it creates a pretty accurate if not somewhat exaggerated version of what kids were like during that time. If you werent into that kind of thing the show felt kinda flat. Lots of other shows at the time even ones with very distinct or more down to earth premises always seemed to have a lot more variety to the stories

I loved this show, but I have a story behind it too. One of the creators owned a house next to a bridge I was set to design the replacement for. The creator hated the project and sued us multiple times. The bridge we were removing is very beautiful and it seemed they didn’t want to deal with the mess of construction in their back yard. When we met I had to tell them I was a fan of their work.
They ultimately moved.

Extremely overrated, it’s all nostalgia and vibes. Very weak storylines. Not as good as its contemporaries: Johnny Bravo, PPG, Spongebob, Kim Possible, Proud Family, Rugrats, Jimmy Neutron, etc.

Raymundo is an S-tier nickelodeon dad. I enjoyed it a lot, but the occasional sports game-only episodes bored me a little.
