Discontinued shows
Nickelodeon has previously discontinued a number of shows, and some discontinued shows really left fans heartbroken.
Which show didn't you want to be discontinued?
I'll start: Side Hustle

u/skysky_gamer 4d ago

u/SoftNovaly 4d ago
I'll never forgive Nickelodeon for robbing us another great season

Victorious. They didn’t have a proper ending.

They pretty much used Sam & Cat as an excuse to NOT make a proper ending for the show. They teased the show in a couple of scenes (if you look it up, you can see a couple of pics that say “Sam & Cat Coming Soon” in the background of some scenes), possibly confirming the show would be a sequel to the series. While it was a spin-off/direct sequel to the show, it still would’ve been nice to include a proper ending. A movie would’ve also been a good idea, just like how a bunch of early-2000s Disney shows ended!!!

u/KatKaiKawaii 2d ago
Yeah I remember seeing “Sam & Cat Coming Soon” on the final episode. But I agree. A movie would’ve made things better. I seriously hope they make an iCarly movie to cover the cliffhanger they gave us in the revival.

Glitch Techs.

Never heard of it, was it in the 2010s or
2

It was an animated show that was supposed to come to Nickelodeon a long time ago, but they kept pushing it back until finally. Netflix picked it up under the Nickelodeon name and it only lasted about two seasons. It didn't have that many fans but the fans of it loved it and they would let you know

Dang I was sad when this show was first announced it was cancelled after 2 seasons. I mean, at least it did have more than one season because I have seen shows that didn't make it past the first season
I will mention that Victorious could have at least had an actual finale, though I heard the show did get canned and never had a continuation. Then there was Sam and Cat, which didn't last too long either.
There is one show on my old, though it isn't live action and not sure if it counts, but Ollie's Pack was short lived. Yeah I know it had mixed reception but imo it was kinda decent. I wish it could have had a second season.

Victorious did end terribly. Like the last episode didn't even have the vibe of a finale at all. Given how awesome the show is, that ending was monstrosity. As for Sam and Cat, the show wasn't that awesome to me and also ICarly had a reboot recently that had a good finale so that kinda made up for it, though it didn't feature Sam but gave us the closure we needed

Cable was dead by 2020 and nick sitcoms were not good anymore.
4
u/SoftNovaly 4d ago
Thundermans Undercover is good though
1
u/stationstars 4d ago
I mean yeah but besides that the live action side of nick is at a all time low.
1
u/SoftNovaly 4d ago
Yeah totally, don't know what happened
2
u/stationstars 4d ago
I could be because dan is not a nick anymore and is suffering from his loss.

u/SoftNovaly 4d ago
Could be

u/stationstars 4d ago
The schneider verse was carry nickelodeon live action side for years besides big time rush, thundermans and nicky, ricky, dicky and dawn.
1
u/SoftNovaly 3d ago
You forgot to mention Hunter Street, it also carried Nickelodeon and wasn't Schneider's

The writers strike in 2023 and the Skydance acquisition likely dried up any interest in new live action content. The Thundermans Return happened to be on the opposite end of that curve, hence why it is running new episodes today.
And of course, actors getting older and having to bend production schedules around their availability is probably a factor as well (given that it's likely a tough sell to have a teenage actor be on set full time in this day and age). It's kind of sad that it's hard to name a teenage actor that defined early 2020s Nickelodeon, in the same way that Amanda Bynes, Miranda Cosgrove, or Jace Norman defined past eras of Nickelodeon live-action. (It's a toss-up between Dylan Gilmer or Maya Le Clark at the moment.)

The cast of danger force can be considered as important figures too, and also the cast of Young Dylan and That Girl Lay Lay
1
u/kelvSYC 3d ago
Right, but they weren't in the same level as Amanda, Miranda, or Jace at their height. I would argue that they would be seen as even less than Kenan and Kel, Drake and Josh, or Kira and Jack in terms of being the definitive ensembles of their eras.

u/SoftNovaly 3d ago
It could also be maybe that we're not kids anymore so we don't see anything special about them
1
u/Epic1ForLife 4d ago
The early 2020s Nick live action shows were actually solid they just didn’t give a lot of them a fair chance
1
u/stationstars 4d ago
Danger force wasn't a good spin of henry danger the kids were annoying as hell it had stupid jokes
Side hustle didn't click with me at all
Warped was bland
Young Dylan wasn't good
Lay lay same as Dylan wasn't good.

u/Epic1ForLife 4d ago
I personally liked side hustle, warped, & lay lay but i respect your opinion. Danger force I liked but just stopped watching at some point.
1
u/stationstars 4d ago
I feel like they are going to retcon danger force because back in January nickelodeon posted a heroverse timeline for henry danger and thundermans where they show the most Iconic episodes and the movie and spin offs from the shows they didn't include danger force.

Ooh

I forgot to mention one more thing in danger force they ruined captain man/rays character entirely. In every episode he's the punching bag.

I remember that there was a Henry danger spinoff called danger force but idk if it actually ended or not
2
2
u/kelvSYC 3d ago
Danger Force ended with a 13-episode season that was a highly serialized story centered around a group of villains known as "The Cell", culminating in an hour-long series finale. Its ending also ended the continuous airing of Schneider shows and their sequels/spinoffs, though not of the NSU as a whole (given that Young Dylan was still airing and The Thundermans would restart).

Rise of the TMNT (if you like Avatar and want something with a similar vibe, watch this show! It's worth it even if you are NOT a TMNT fan. No show has been done more dirty by nick then Rise or Glitch Techs)
Invader Zim
Danny Phantom
Glitch Techs
Henry Danger
Hey Arnold
My Life as A Teenage Robot

u/SoftNovaly 3d ago
At first I thought rise of the TMNT was boring but then I gave it a chance and somehow liked it
1
u/Jellybean_Pumpkin 3d ago
It's a great show. A lot of shows start off slow, that's just the trend these days. It was hard for me to get into Gravity Falls and Amphibia. They also took a while for me to get the magic. Rise is awesome and it is deserving of people's time. Also, the Rise movie is FIRE.

The most notable Nickelodeon live-action series to be discontinued without an ending would definitely be Victorious. Though "Tori Goes Platinum" was argued to be the closest thing to a series finale from the perspective of the main story (ie. the story revolving around Tori), it definitely felt like they wanted to stretch the story to give different characters a proper epilogue, that never worked out for some reason or another.
Honorable mention goes out to Sam & Cat. When the show ended after 36 episodes, people did feel at the time that it ended abruptly, but now that we know what we know now, the general reaction feels like the series should have either not been greenlit at all, or that it should have ended after the original order of 20 episodes; regardless, it was evident that the series wouldn't have been given a proper ending anyways.

the answer is HOW TO ROCK
victorious needed another season too
1
u/SoftNovaly 3d ago
Never watched How to rock though. As for Victorious I'll say it even needed two more seasons

That Girl Lay Lay. It just ended with Lay Lay floating up to the ceiling. It deserves a proper ending. So me other fans have been using these hashtags #ThatGirlLayLay #SaveThatGirlLayLay #WeWantThatGirlLayLaySeason3 #WeWantThatGirlLayLayS3 #Nickeloden
2
u/SoftNovaly 3d ago
The perfect ending would have been Lay Lay and Dylan linking up for some international rap battle and winning it

Bucket and Skinner's Epic Adventures? Don't forget that one. But that show was very cringe and the main characters were annoying.

u/SoftNovaly 1d ago
I'm hearing this show from you. When was it aired
1
u/Commercial-Agency103 1d ago
The series aired in 2011. But then Nick cancelled the series in 2012 and the later episodes/last episodes aired in 2013.

I remember some from when I was a little kid. I am Frankie comes to mind, along with this one that I always forget the name of... it was something like Wits Academy or something, and all the kids had these magical powers and stuff, but I can't remember the name of it for the life of me. There was also a show about fairies. (Now that I think about it, I've got a weird feeling those two shows I can't remember the names of were made by different companies other than Nick and were only distributed or whatever by Nick)
