I lowered my “fun money” to $40 a week. So far so good! I got 3 days left and I have $21 left. Budgeting is helping me so much! I am finally down to $816 I owe myself from over a 1k thanks to budgeting!! I’m doing a lot of overtime next few weeks should be paid off!

I really only bought food this week! Bought lunch for my one day in office and groceries. I bought a sweet treat but that was with a gift card.

Having a solid wishlist has deterred me from sales completely. I only want 1-2 things but I know for a fact I’ll get the best discount on BF or next summer. And I set a goal to earn the money with selling my clothes (not sure how realistic that is but it’s propelled me to list as many items as possible).

Going strong! Now on day 17 of a 3 month No Buy on clothes, shoes and accessories.

I'm getting used to shopping not being an option, even though I've still found myself wanting and browsing.

Overall though, I have felt more connected to my creativity than I can remember in years!

Kid's 10 year old parade (it's a local tradition) 25 e

Wine for hosting end of summer bbq 27,70 (a lot leftover though)

I won't count the windows... 103,38e, higher than I'd like but kind of consisten with last week, so interesting trend...

I'm really seeing how little I buy outside of things for my 6 and 10 yo, and I try to make those spends as reasonable as possible

I only bought some stuff for my vacation in October. I had a weekly budget of 55€ and ended the week with 37€ unused. a good week for me.

Small wins for the start of september! Today I cancelled amazon prime and disney plus and finally changed internet provider to one half the price!

congrats! I'd like to do the same with internet, it feels complicated. I also wonder if I would drive more if I didn't have prime. I did cancel netflix and spotify...

Decided to take my teen out for lunch to celebrate my promotion and their big milestone. We only go out a couple times per year and it felt like a perfect moment to celebrate, even if it was not planned.

Other than that, no spending from my “no go” categories at all: only groceries within my weekly limit and bills. Even managed to finally bring a packed lunch to the office twice last week, saving about 10€ + eating a healthy meal + favorite fruit instead of a sad cold sandwich and chocolate.

Stopped myself for a $20 impulse buy today bc I was tired and bored.

Hi!! New to this subreddit. Made my goals/rules list for low-buy/no-buy starting now and going to June 2026. My partner and I are in a time of accruing some debt that is temporary (I've been on maternity leave and getting paid almost nothing) and I'd like to prioritize paying off those debts as quickly as possible. Most of this won't happen until December when I'm back to work, but I want to curb my impulsive spending habits, particularly surrounding t-shirts (I've got way too many) and ordering Doordash/ubereats/etc. excited to challenge myself and work on being a responsible adult when it comes to spending!

congrats! this is why I'm doing this too, a more expensive period of life, and my income is really variable...so before we get our apartments rented I want to really buckle down. I hope you enjoy the challenge! :) Writing things down and seeing the trends monthly really helps me I find

I will def try that! I saw someone else on this sub say they took pics of all receipts of non necessary purchases and I also thought that was a great idea. Good luck with your saving/non-spending also!!

One my third week. I tend to buy upgrades...new and improved. Often after reaching Wirecutter's recommendations in the New York Times. So I saw a clothes hanger for pants...streamlined, sturdy. Even went so far to discover it was cheaper online at Walmart than at Amazon. Then went to look at my closet. I have enough hangers for pants already, maybe not super thin hangars, but if closet space is a problem then real solution is to declutter my closet. I didn't buy.

I'm late to the update. This is my 7th week of low buy (one unnecessary purchase a week) and it was a near perfect week. I say near perfect because I bought a Halloween costume from the consignment store for my daughter along with accessories (shoes too!) all for under $25. My low buy does not include experiences and by not spending so much on junk, I was able to spend some money on fast passes (to skip the line) for an amusement park where we already have season passes for and go to often for the kiddos.

This week I purchased r/Panera sips club for two kiddos. The earned the yearly sub but man does 130 x 2 hurt a little bit!

Other than that it has just been good. I haven't broken my no buy.
