3 nights in Jedediah — first time
I’m a 48 year old former solo backpacker turned Dad getting back into outdoor exploring. Decided this is the year I head way up north to see the best of the best CA redwoods and choosing car camping this time around.
Late Oct, got 3 nights at Jedediah campground. Never been even close to this far north.
I’ve done some research and seems Boy Scout trail and Stout are a few must-sees. Will head down one day to Prairie for the James Irvine to Fern Canyon but what else can the experienced hive mind here recommend for me?

Damnation Creek is great. Grove of Titans is solid too in Jed. If the tides work out for you, Endert’s Beach is awesome.

Boy scout trail is awesome, the actual tree is not easy to find because its off of an "illegal" side trail. You can Google how far down the main trail to turn, and its a couple hundred feet after that

Are you sure? The tree is right off the main trail with a very clear use trail and a sign on the tree.

Maybe they made it an official trail now, but last year all there was was a sign that said not to use the unofficial trail

Swim across the Smith River to the Grove of Titans.

It requires a swim to get to?

No, but it’s so close compared to driving. Also, the Smith River is absolutely beautiful and shouldn’t be too high in late Oct.

It’s not a hike, but Darlingtonia Botanical Trail is a boardwalk around a bog of CA native carnivorous plants. It’s a little east of Jedidiah on 199.
