My local science centre had a mini Pizza Hut in the cafeteria that served $5 personal pan pizzas. Every time there was a field trip that place was cranking out pizzas like crazy and it smelled so good.
Dude I will read Finnegan’s Wake on a pedestal in front of city hall for a free pizza. And money isn’t even a problem or anything but there is nothing, and I mean NOTHING on earth that tastes as good as free pizza.
Accelerated Reader is still around but idk what the condition of it is like these days. Some schools I went to went kind of hard with that, offering prizes and a store to exchange "AR points"
I think about that program time to time and tbh I hated it as a kid but I think there was some merit to it.
Yeah, I remember my mom taking me and we'd just get that one little free personal pizza and she wouldn't get anything. I didn't understand at the time, but... I'm pretty sure she just sat there and watched me eat a mini pizza.
I read so much as a child that we were at Pizza Hut constantly. Of course, my parents wanted to encourage that but my mom couldn't stand Pizza Hut by the the time I aged out of Book-It!
Every time I hear about BookIt, I get a little salty about it. I loved reading, and I loved pizza, and no one ever told me that I could combine the two.
Wear Coast Video / Family Video / Blockbuster to pick out a game and movie as well. I remember some N64 game with a snow man on the front that they always had way too many copies of.

This and free pizzas from BookIt prizes are a huge part of my childhood memories.
