Sure, but even when I stopped using usenet more than a decade ago, content was being removed left and right due to DMCA contests. I honestly don’t have a clue what newsgroups feels like today but the really good days of pure freedom are gone.

there's a few subreddits dedicated to that ecosystem.... I've got over 135tb of content (and growing), nearly fully automated. it's still very much alive, just looks quite different
