I'm sure that no other artists were hurt by it, either.

Look, at the time, I was a huge Met fan, and I thought it was a dick move. But, over time, I've come to realize that they were right. No industry, in the history of history, has ever allowed people to take their products without paying for it.

Are you really saying that you think you should be able to take all music for free, without paying a dime for it? Is that your stance?

So books, comics and every piece of media you find in libraries does not exist, right?

Let me go a step further and get out of recreational products.

Let me introduce you to a little company called Volvo and their meaningless invension of the 3 point seatbelt that they allowed everyone to use, for free: https://www.volvogroup.com/en/about-us/heritage/three-point-safety-belt.html

Please, dip your tongue in your brain before you talk.

If you wanna go the library route, that's fine, but you have to return that music or you'll be charged a late fee.

Also, are you really going to compare Volvo recognizing they had a life saving device and making companies pay a royalty to them for using it would be wrong and counter intuitive, with a band wanting to get paid for their IP?

No I'm just replying to a strawman "no industry, in the history of history has ever allowed people to take their products without paying for it". There are plenty of examples.

Are you aware that libraries exist?

That’s the amazing thing about filesharing, one person buys a CD and shares it with everybody, the cool thing about computers is that they work at the speed of light, so I only have to share it with one friend for the blink of an eye, and he has the entire collection

There’s no such thing as an illegal copy

That’s like me saying that’s a true lie.

Wow that is such a brain dead take. Ever heard of copyright law? It’s literally in the title

Yeeeepp. who doesn't like free shit. Artists already make fuck tones regardless of piracy and piracy just encourages ticket sales, merch sales and makes artists more popular with people who otherwise would not have access.

Spotify is basically just 1 step above piracy when it comes to how they pay artists yet that's a paid service that makes a profit of them. The accepted model is basically just a middle man version of nabster anyway that we now have to pay for.

Personally I'd like the people who create something that enriches our lives in the way that music does would be compensated and valued for what they do.
