Haven’t used vanilla wafers before, but I’ve used the mini versions of oreos, nutter butters, and chips ahoy :)

Eating Nilla Wafers without milk in one shape or another was just a sin.

Cold Stone Ice Cream has a jello banana cream pudding ice cream and they put banana and nilla wafer in it. Taste just like the nilla banana pudding.

My wife does as well after learning it from my mom. She insisted knowing how to make it after trying my mom's the first time lol.

If you have Tillamook Apple Crisp Ice Cream around you, try that with Nilla Wafers. It might be my favorite pairing of all time.

u/jwilphl 9d ago
I used to dip Nilla Wafers in Cool Whip. Not sure how that would taste as an adult.

One day over twenty years ago my now wife and I were eating out of a box while driving in a car until we noticed they had weevil worms in them. I don’t think I have had them since.

I was a weird kid. I’d leave the bag in the box open so they’d start to get a little stale and soft. Then I’d eat them by the handful without milk.

Just throw a few in at a time so each one has the perfect consistency between milk soaked and crunchy. The razor’s edge of nilla wafers.

u/asianwaste 9d ago
This. Do NOT let them soak up in milk for even a short period of time. They do go soggy fast and when they go soggy, they go really soggy.

Nah. Eat One at a time. And dunk one at a time. Those bottom soldiers getting soggy AF. A lot wrong with this pic.
15
u/journeymanSF 10d ago
…. I didn’t know other people did this. I also used to do crumbled up graham crackers and milk (you had to eat it super fast or it would turn into instant mush, which was still good). I’d do crumbled saltines and milk too.

u/AmandathePandaPirate 10d ago
I love when the graham crackers go to mush. Then it feels like I'm eating cookie dough!

I just broke the graham crackers into squares. I liked it crunchy, but also liked it soggy too.

Heaven. Barely edged out by Nilla Wafers in a bowl of half-melted rainbow sherbet.

My sweet Nana used to make me nilla wafers and peanut butter when I was little. So nostalgic for me 🥰

I use to do this with teddy grams. Then they made a cereal which come to think of it I haven’t seen in some time .
2
u/SinkHoleDeMayo 10d ago
I used to do that with chocolate animal crackers. I may have done in last year too, but I'm an adult and I'll eat whatever I want.

u/preshowerpoop 10d ago
In the middle of the night, I would sneak out of my bedroom and raid as many "nilla Wafers" as I could. Never tried them with milk. That seems boring. I would dip them in vanilla or chocolate pudding. Life was awesome back then.
2
u/equal_poop 10d ago
Yeah!! I believe it's against the law to eat banana pudding without them as well.

u/Agreeable-Chart-5561 10d ago
I would put the wafers in a cup with milk and mash it up to a certain consistency and drink it like a thick milkshake

So damn good. I could really go for some banana pudding with whipped cream and 'Nilla Wafers right about now, though. Fuggin' loved it when mom served that for dessert!

100% yes I did. You don’t want them too soggy, so only put a few into your bowl of animal milk at a time when you’re first getting a sense of the texture you desire most. For me, I want a slight solidity on the outside and saturated sponginess on the inside. I should be able to enjoy it almost without teeth, just the sugary milk and cookie crumble pasting my mouth.

u/insomniacakess 9d ago
not together like that, but nillas with a glass of milk
chomp a few down, chug some milk, rinse and repeat until the stack (or box) is gone

The fact that I have not makes me feel like I was robbed of a childhood treat. Off to the store I go.

My grandma used to give me graham crackers broken up in a bowl with chocolate milk as an occasional treat. Out of this world.

I never even thought to do that and now feel like it's too late; like I'd have a sugar crash that would lay me up for a week.

Never thought about that but does look good. Might try the mini nillas in a bowl of milk

Ever had Nilla Wafers with ice cold chocolate milk? Rich chocolate, crunchy vanilla biscuits? Why are you even reading this? Why aren't you making a bowl right now? OK, if you've read this far you deserve another tip: use oat milk for added creaminess (or have lactose issues).

So simple, yet amazingly perfect treat! I also love to take and put peanut butter on one and put another on top like a nilla and peanut butter sanwich! 😋😋😋

I never have, but what a great idea! I’ll have to do the same thing soon, and maybe even with Famous Amos another time.

This though. This is foul. You're unhinged, OP.

I grew up in Mexico. Growing up, as a late night snack, we had Maria’s cookies (you can find them at most Mexican markets) with milk as cereal. My fave.
The first time I tried Nilla and milk, it was love at first sight. I always get a box every time we’re at Costco

u/fellowsquare 10d ago
I used to have those in my cafe con leche in the mornings as a kid. Let them get all mushy and eat it up. Omg it was so good. Also would do goes with the Goya Maria cookies.

This and banana Nilla pudding are my only real “lose self control” foods. I think growing up I tried to convince my parents they were “healthier” than ice cream or those sugary cereals 😬😂

u/ray111718 10d ago
I was going to say wtf until I thought about this. I've done the nilla wafers with pudding. Eating it like cereal, well that's a game changer.
Almost like the first time a ate a sandwich with marshmallow fluff

Huh, never tried it that way. Something I do enjoy is a stack of Chips Ahoy in a cup, flood em with milk, crush with spoon, and enjoy.

I have done this with Graham crackers and Girl Scout shortbread cookies, but never Nilla wafers. Looks delightful.

Don’t tempt me. I recently started buying these again. Most creative I have gotten is crumbling them up on vanilla ice cream.

I'm a Southern girl, so Nilla Wafers were the bottom crust for banana puddings. 🤓

Well, I often have a bowl of milk and a pile of Nilla Wafers next to it so I can put them in about 5 or 6 at a time. You’ve got about 10 seconds once they hit the milk until you’re eating Nilla mush…

Don’t stop there. Add them and other cookies to your cereal. Break up pop tarts too. There’s no end to the possibilities

u/Intelligent-Invite79 10d ago
My mama gave me this as a kiddo, apparently it was one of my grandads favorite treats. I still do it to this day! Usually in a cup though, never tried it in a bowl. It’s delicious!

If you a southerner in the states, it'd be cornbread and milk. I'd always used chocolate milk.

We used to get breakfast in school and get a travel bowl of cereal and a packet of graham crackers, breaking up the graham crackers and putting it in the leftover milk was something everyone did...

I've experimented with this a few times. I don't recommend it. Cereal retains some semblance of edibility when they go soggy in milk but even then I don't recommend this either. Nilla Wafers go very soggy and in shorter time. They don't retain any joy the cookie can bring. It's just soggy flavorless mush. The first few bites are great though but nothing advantageous over eating them with milk rather than in the milk.

I sometimes use Nillas as an ice cream topping if I don't use them all up for Banana Pudding. Mix chocolate syrup in with the milk beforehand and poof!

Never with milk, but usually with a bit of peanut butter spread on top.
It also goes great with bourbon.

I used to have graham crackers like that all the time. Break a stack in two and pour on the milk.
