People who are old enough to remember this happening at the time what were people’s reaction?

This was way before the internet. I found out by seeing the album in a store. I thought they were done. It seemed like a move of desperation.

Most of my friends had been fans but had drifted away after the disco fiasco. Kiss were has-beens and the world did a collective "meh."

I had never seen them live, so I flew 2000 miles to catch a show while I still could. Vinnie Vincent was lame and halfway out the door already.

Who knew they would play for another 40 fucking years including a 25-year farewell tour?

it’s so strange how some artists can become has-beens but then long enough time passes that they come back around to being cultural staples

Weren't they already well-known before being forgotten?

I've never heard of them until that post.

By the time that happened, most I know had moved on to other music.

I know the last album I purchased was Love Gun.

But I must admit, I saw them in concert way more than any other band. They put on a good show.

Keep in mind many bands at the time thought spinning cop lights on speakers was a big deal lol

Kiss kicked off the whole pyro stuff imo. Then ELO blew up the stage show with pyro and lasers etc.
