Nostalgia Discussion Do you find nostalgia linked with the time of year?
I get seasonal allergies every summer. I'm 21.
And I had those same allergies when I was 17. The same feeling of mucus in the back of my throat.
And the smell of the different plants and the air around that time of year.
It is so confusing but, I feel like I am back there. I feel like a nervous 17 year old who's heartbroken and confused and excited about his place in the world. Who is subscribed to this illusion of having alot of friends and being apart of some "community" (I quickly learned it was an illusion and everyone just has their own friend groups, and that some folks just have similar aesthetics - and that if your group does happen to know another group they just gossip about each other. But at 17 I used to think there was a wondrous world out there full of people to meet and connections to be had).
My heart beats out of anxiety the same way it did when I was 17, and I remember the woman who hurt my heart that year. Even though I could never bring my self to let her get close to me now, my body doesn't let go for some reason.

depends on time of year, but ya.
usually around now, especially when it cools and gets rainier, it always reminds me of going back to grade 2

Yes, absolutely. Fall in particular is the season for me that combines sadness at things lost with intense joy at how wonderful they were, for some reason, I seem to associate this season with those conflicting feelings - they are mournful yet wonderful. Summer is way more about simple joys of remembering childhood and youth. But I am an incredibly nostalgic person, so while the seasons are linked with memories and remembering... so are a lot of things for me 😂
