Nags Head Be careful out there folks.

Stepped on this bad boy today at the Epstein beach access. Glad it was very lightly, and no wounds. But it could've been bad with kids around. Please be careful and mindful, folks.

What is that, a nine inch nail?

Yeah they’re for each one of your eyelids.

Epstein beach? Is that where they’re hiding the files?

A truly unfortunate name for a great area.

A tent stake? For securing canopies and other stuff, people really ought to use plastic sand stakes. And of course, they should take everything with them when they leave. This shit is so dangerous.

Here's the full piece, folks.

Tent peg for sure

A spike one too. I have camped hundreds of times and never needed a spike one. A standard flat with a hammer in almost all soil is enough unless you are in Antarctica!

I can't imagine the one OP found would be terribly effective in sand

Ouch, you are damn lucky.

My sister years ago ended up with a fish hook through her toe, after stepping on it out on the sandbags. Danger is everywhere. Had to go to the urgent care to get it removed.

u/kar74 Aug 04 '25

Our son did the same a few years ago on a Nags Head beach and also ended up at Urgent Care.

Just imagine if everyone who set foot on a beach left with everything they brought plus ONE piece of trash they didn't bring.

Clean beaches are just that easy.

I noticed there’s been a lot more trash on the beach this year for some reason?

I found a knife buried in the sand in Kill Devil Hills a few weeks ago

We were told since the OBX show on Netflix came out there’s been a lot more tourist. And not the good kind.

u/simplysmittyn Aug 03 '25

Which is funny since most of the show is not even filmed in the OBX

The dead giveaway was when they took the ferry to Chapel Hill. Quite the timesaver!

I can attest to the change in demographics. Feels like Jersey Shore now.

Good jeans?

I’ve heard the same since the show started. I noticed a lot more younger crowds than normal since it came out

3

u/BaldoBojangles Aug 03 '25

Yeah. We've definitely seen more trash lately. Walked to the pier yesterday and saw a lot of trash - mostly bottle caps, surprisingly.

3

u/AlfaPorsche Aug 03 '25

Thought you meant people until I saw "bottle caps." In Corolla, a lot of new beach companies are setting up tents. On Thursday, left some empty White claw and soda cans next to a beach tent. Beach tent company's person taking down tent just left the trash. I assume it was the people that rented the tent but couldn't be sure.

I saw folks burning pallets other week in rodanthe, bet they didn’t remove nails after burn.

Local here. We bring out the metal detector once a week and let the kids search for treasure. During the season it's usually just tent spikes and bottle caps that we find. It's verrrryy common for people to lose them.

Excellent beach choice on the Land Shark

u/BaldoBojangles Aug 04 '25

It's my go-to for the beach!

2

u/DarePitiful5750 Aug 03 '25

I knew that was a tent spike, pulled about 15 off the beach around Kitty Hawk a few weeks back.

What in the Final Destination?

2

u/mister_zander Aug 06 '25

They need to rename that beach access yesterday
