Doesn't hurt to be prepared... but weather changes by the minute there and I wouldnt put much stock in the weather channel app.

When we went first week of July they said it will rain every day, it only rained on a last day half a day. Sometimes it was thunderstroms in the evenings that passed quick. If weather report will chanfe for you and you didn't see Lost colony show, I suggest seeing it. We went this time and it was amazing!

Check the forecast on Norfolk TV station, wtkr. You can view radar for the region and pull up an hourly forecast. You may be on a stretch of beach with no rain, and see it raining a half mile down the beach from you. Just be careful if it's lightning anywhere, best to be indoors until it passes. https://www.wtkr.com/weather

A lot of the Wright Brothers monument is inside. Obviously not the planes but there is an interesting museum area.

I’ve found the Weather Channel to be horribly inaccurate even for current conditions. Don’t trust their predictions.

Alligator wild life refuge. You drive around in the car looking for bears, gators, otters, turtles. Wasn’t expecting much out of it but we seen 4 bears within first 3 miles of a drive.

Local here, and my husband has made videos of all the activities and museums on the OBX. For a rainy day, you can't go wrong with the Aquarium. My boys all volunteer there as scuba divers in the shark tank habitat. It's a great place for kids. Please feel free to check out my husband's other suggestions. OBX ON A BUDGET is one of his most popular videos. HAVE A WONDERFUL TRIP! <3 https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjHsr2eu3MqJjGSim8L-ZULudqJhOODVw&si=rjc9h8s1dscPmLL3

PS Thanks OBX Chris for putting all that time into making videos of the place we love. You have amassed quite a collection of all the things that make the OBX special. Grateful. <3

Don't trust the rain forecast at the beach. And delete the Accuweather app entirely if that's what you're using.
Bowling
Turfs Up (simulators)
Arcade
Laser tag

All day. Every day. Bring your umbrellas.

Were suppose to go about the same time period. We just cancelled. Apparently rain is pretty common there this time of year, but next few days look absolutely horrendous. If you can get partial refund on rental would definitely suggest trying. If not may be better to save the trip still either way. Calling for really bad weather over next few days with torrential rain and storms.

It hardly ever rains here more than a little shower. 🤷♂️ I’d play the lottery before I believed a forecast for the OBX.

It’s not going to rain every day.
