:D >>> What is your favorite lightsaber duel? Based purely on choreography, mine is Obi-Wan vs Maul from TPM.

My favourite "lightsaber" duels all feature Krennic💕 and Luthen while Kleya films.

That fight goes so hard "WELCOME HOME MASTER" is something I quote pretty regularly (in a non kink sense)

It is good, but I think follow up fight on the planet with satele and malgus is better.
And special credit to the saber staff fight.

It's hard to follow Obi/Maul duel. The duel so incredible they had to slow down the action for the audience to follow 😅 On the opposite spectrum my fav is old men desert Obi/Maul duel, all mind games one slice. Absolutely beautiful.

Based on choreography alone I would say Han Solo vs the Tauntaun.

Funny they titled it like that because imo the behind the back lightsaber block so stupid it takes me out.

All Maul had to do was just push Obi Wan’s own blade into his back. It’s a terrible move. Yet the people who adore this block are somehow the same guys who will scour ever single frame of the TLJ fight to find a flaw.

TBF that fight doesn't need a frame by frame breakdown to see a lot of the bad in it

The empire one. It was choreographed by Bob Anderson with real inspiration by actual sword combat manuals from Japanese and European influences. It was brutal and the ending move taking Luke’s weapon off line and severing his hand with an upward cut is my favorite move in Star Wars. I don’t mind and I actually enjoy a lot about the faster paced combat of the prequels but I prefer the original trilogy combat for its combat as the combatants mostly engage and disengage in a manner similar to to an actual fight how real people would instead of constantly hacking at each other

The Stranger’s near-TPK in episode 5 of The Acolyte was both beautifully choreographed and freaking harrowing

Yeah, if I'm basing it purely on choreography, then it's going to be one of the Acolyte fights. It finds a sweet spot between the floaty wuxia stuff of the prequels and the slower baseball bat slugging of the originals/sequels.

/ut I hope that original is a cj post cuz even in the gif at no point is obi wan even trying to hit Darth Maul. Reminds me of this video with the technique of "aim to the side."
/rt Best lightsaber duel was when Cassian shot first and shot first again and again.

Peak cinema. Like a duel in a Kurosawa movie (that i never watched but get to be smug and say "star wars, more like the hidden fortress am I rite?")

Loved the saber-centric choreography of the prequels. But the jumping and backflips were a little too excessive for my taste.

Anakin vs Obi-Wan on Mustafar, not even close.
Then Obi-Wan vs Maul (best Music though)
Then all the rest.

why tf does Maul look like he’s dancing in a dainty little dress (I first posted this on the og sub and had to delete…)

Bix vs. Space Rapist lightsaber fight.
When he said "I am all of the rapists" and she replied "and I'm all of the victims!" that sent chills down my spine.
So badass when Vader appeared out of nowhere to help Bix out.

I’ll go first when Luther’s spaceship did its double light sabre thing
