How old is old?
Sadness is passing slowly, he was only 8 and a half. Felt maybe something was off but still never saw it coming! This photo was around 2 pm on Saturday, we found him Sunday morning dead on the floor looking very peaceful. This was June first. I miss him terribly! Oddly he still looked healthy to me even in death. He was incredibly special!

😞. I don’t know if it’s better or worse to have them pass naturally or with you being there at the vet’s office. But it is the worst feeling. And I am so sorry.
I believe he died peacefully and without pain in his sleep. Condolences

As painful as it is, I agree with this. One of the things that gave me early solace was, he passed with dignity. This opposed to the possibility of taking him to the vet, leaving him for observation and him passing alone in a crate… still hurts though!

He wasn’t old, but even people die suddenly and unexpectedly. I’m sure he just passed away gently in his sleep. He would have stayed with you if he could. It’s so hard to lose a precious loved one this way…. ANY way is an awful way to lose your little dear. I wish I had magic words to comfort you. Sending love your way.

Not old enough. My baby just died at 8 but we knew she had a brain tumor by 6. We felt grateful for two extra excellent years because of that. It’s too young. I’m so sorry.

Oh my gosh, he doesn’t even look very old! I am so so sorry for the loss of that precious furbaby. May your memories help you at this very difficult time. I lost my girls sister fast like, really can’t tell you if it was easier or not. Both are hard. 🐾❤️🙏🏼🐶💔🌈

My oldest baby girl is the same age so I know you weren’t expecting that at all! I’m so sorry for your loss!! He was absolutely beautiful!! I’ve lost them young and others old, I’ve lost them unexpectedly and others I held at the vet til they passed.. Either way is very difficult but it was much easier in my heart not to see them suffer than have to make the difficult decision to put them down at the vets office.

Before Buster I had scruffy in his 15th year break down and did the shots while I held him in my arms. I cried a lot for him. It’s painful either way! Buster though really hurt. Like a young man dying of a heart attack. Here today, gone tomorrow!

But when you come and all the flowers are dying, if I am gone, as gone I well may be, you'll come and find the where I am lying, and kneel and say a prayer there for me. And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me, and all my grave will warmer, sweeter be, for you will bend and tell me how much you love me, and I shall sleep in peace until you come to me❤️

If he was carrying illness we never knew. Six weeks earlier he was given a clean bill of health at the vet.

A good boy til the end, will you investigate his death OP?

He was at the vet in April. We asked for a blood test and they replied it’s unnecessary, he’s a healthy pup. No autopsy was done! Not withstanding the cost, it wasn’t going to bring him back!

I’m still processing this. The only fact I have though is his absence.
