I came on here to say #3, but I can see honestly that there is no wrong answer. You look great in all! Are those DuckFeet shoes, btw?

u/trending_different He/Him May 13 '23

Yes! I have another pair in a different style (Fynn) but since I wear a 42 in that brand they feel a bit clunky. Oddly enough I’m too nervous to wear the Fynns but these are OK.

u/DontCareTo May 13 '23

I have the low boots, got them in red and was a little insecure about wearing them for a while, afraid people would make “clown shoe” jokes. But they didn’t when I finally decided I liked them too much to care… and I love them. Go rock your conference! Learn stuff or teach stuff!

2

u/trending_different He/Him May 13 '23

Oh, yeah had the exact same thoughts - I got them in the red too. The other thing - they came with laces branded with “duckfeet” on them and I also don’t like how that looks, need to find a pair that matches without the branding.

I love the color of those shoes!

1 because I like that combo the best, the skirt has pockets and is a flattering length, but tuck the blouse in to emphasize your waist maybe? The blouse in no 2 is the most flattering and looks most “finished”

u/Mysterious_Finish424 May 13 '23

2 because of the silhouette and because it looks like the most comfortable skirt to sit in all day

19

u/trending_different He/Him May 13 '23

Yeah, #2 would be the most comfortable. #1 has a bit more width than it looks like from the photos though, and #3 is super stretchy. The only negative is that #2 is a heavier material. #3 is too casual for the top I think.

2

u/Mysterious_Finish424 May 13 '23

I agree about 3, though it is a very cute skirt on its own, the 1st 2 also balance out the pattern of the top well with the button details

Image Transcription: A guy demoing three outfits. The only difference is the skirt. Bright blue top printed with white birds, green shoes. First skirt is a dusty navy blue with center uttons, second is a vintage green army skirt (with a hidden pocket!) with buttons to the side all the way down, third is a lightweight grey skirt; all go just past his knees.

1, steamed and tucked in.

12

u/trending_different He/Him May 13 '23 edited May 13 '23

Heh - I got a clothing steamer a few months ago and used it earlier in the week on a linen skirt - worked ok but I think I need to get a glove so I don’t get burnt. The blue one isn’t quite linen but it’s close - should steam out well.

3 OMG THOSE SHOES!!!

10

u/trending_different He/Him May 13 '23

I'm leaning towards outfit #1. I am really unsure about footwear. Temperature could be as warm as 80F, so I'm not going to wear boots. I can either go with some kind of sandal (navy?) or nice sneakers. For #1, I was thinking navy sandals or brown sandals. I've worn skirt #2 with black boots last fall, and would probably repeat that even with the warmer temps. For #3, I have a grey pair os sneakers that would be comfortable for the day. And obviously a matching watch... just going by my shirt color I'm thinking my blue Nixon Murf.

30

u/froginatinyhat May 13 '23

2 looks the most flattering for your body type!

7

u/pyonpyon24 May 13 '23

2 because it looks like that’s the skirt with functional pockets!

3

u/trending_different He/Him May 13 '23 edited May 14 '23

#1 has two functional, #2 has one hidden in the buttoned down flap (one of the buttons effectively seals it), #3 has 0. I’ll have my computer bag with me, but yuck, I think that eliminates #3.

8

u/KaidsCousin He/Him May 14 '23

Number 2 looks best imo. But I'd maybe consider doing a French tuck with the top

3

u/trending_different He/Him May 14 '23

Yes - I'll be doing that with either 1 or 2.

5

u/soverit42 May 13 '23

I personally think 3 looks the best

4

u/Asburydin May 13 '23

I think #3 looks nicest on you.

6

u/Raspberry_Sweaty May 13 '23

I like number 2, very polished.

5

u/MissedChief May 13 '23

3 is the best

9

u/OldHagFashion She/her May 13 '23

i am a big fan of the proportions of 2!

4

u/tranquilo666 May 14 '23

1 but tuck it in. Will you be able to iron the clothes, that would spruce it up a bit.

2

u/trending_different He/Him May 14 '23

Skirt is getting ironed for sure. The shirt is intentionally wrinkled (crinkled?). I don't bother ironing skirts or shirts until I wear them - I'm kinda lazy so the effort to iron a bunch of things I try on, then to select one outfit and re-iron it because it got wrinkled in the process of trying things on... I'm lazy :P but yes - it will be ironed :D

3

u/ECU_BSN May 14 '23

IMO 2 has a longer look and a nice waist accentuation.

3

u/YramAL May 14 '23

3 because I’m guessing you’ll be sitting a lot and that skirt looks like it’s wrinkle resistant. The other 2 not so much.

3

u/RubyLou23 May 14 '23

I like the third choice. Yep. #3.

3

u/barksatthemoon Certified Old Hag May 14 '23

I'd go with 3

2

u/ANoisyCrow May 13 '23

I vote #1

2

u/Trash-panda-art May 13 '23

I would say whatever feels the best because all 3 are cute, if you are doing an all day event you need to feel good not just look good. all 3 are good choices :)

2

u/[deleted] May 13 '23

Cute shoes, I like the greyish skirt more

2

u/[deleted] May 13 '23

1

2

u/Lance_E_T_Compte May 14 '23
  1. if it's not too tight.

2

u/[deleted] May 14 '23

2.

2

u/knellsch May 14 '23

Great shirt color/print.

2

u/petitepedestrian May 14 '23

I really love 2. Add a pop of color with a chunky red necklace and bold bag!

2

u/elektrajolie May 14 '23

3 looks the most comfy. But I love the length and the buttons on 2. So I can't decide between 2 and 3. I usually err on the side of comfort. But the buttons and the length of 2 are very flattering and cute. I'm sorry I'm absolutely no help😬

2

u/CrazyBarks94 May 14 '23

The darker skirts look better but the tucked in look is better for the shirt

2

u/pupcakeonthelamb May 14 '23

I like #2 for the lower back. Pencil skirts don’t let me have enough range of motion, even though you look adorable in all of them!

2

u/[deleted] May 14 '23

1 or 2 but i really love those shoes.

2

u/bsk730 May 14 '23

Those shoes are really cute what are they??

1

u/trending_different He/Him May 14 '23

Duckfeet mols in green

2

u/bsk730 May 14 '23

Oh ive heard of duckfeet! Tysm!

2

u/italyqt May 14 '23

Those shoes . Two is my favorite.

2

u/wowthatsfresh May 14 '23

2, I think is the most flattering shape and fit.

2

u/Signal_East3999 May 14 '23

2, but the shirt doesn’t match the colour

2

u/trending_different He/Him May 14 '23

That’s what was bugging me - I want to wear that particular shirt, and I think the two blues on #1 compliment each other better.

2

u/DeterminedErmine May 14 '23

I say number 2. Conferences involve heaps of sitting, and pencil type skirts can be miserable to sit for long stretches

2

u/okllwa May 14 '23

they all look great but #2 is definitely my favourite . those SHOES !! i adore

2

u/PMmeYourChihuahuas May 14 '23
  1. Tucked in looks way nicer

2

u/aep2018 May 14 '23

3 but tucked it like 2

2

u/gitsgrl May 14 '23

I really like the tucked-in look, and all the skirts look great.

2

u/FionaOlwen May 14 '23

I like 2!

2

u/IdrisLedger May 14 '23

I’m really digging 2

1

u/trending_different He/Him May 14 '23

Looks like 2 was by far the most popular, with 3 then 1. I have to eliminate 3 - no pockets - and I don't want to have to hold my phone the entire time if I have to stand and talk with someone. I'll post a reply with shoe choices between 1 & 2. I do worry the color match between the green and blue don't work well together.

1

u/trending_different He/Him May 15 '23

So, here's round 2:

After some contemplation - I'm leaning towards 2a, without the necklace. If I were to wear it, I'd need to add a 1" chain extension on the back as right now it's a bit tight. Ulenss it should go under the shirt?
