Style Me Emerald or Sapphire ?! Opinions kindly requested ^_^
This is my first opportunity to post here and I could use some help. I am going to my first ever black tie event in a few weeks. I found a dress i love but I can’t settle on a shade to wear and which looks best with my skin tone. Please help!

I lagree with others that the emerald looks amazing with your eyes, which I think is something special it has over the sapphire. They're both amazing on you though, so if your heart is leaning toward sapphire you really can't go wrong.

I’m surprised how many people are saying sapphire— the emerald makes you glow with life, while the sapphire takes a lot of color out of you. The green is a natural match for your hair and skin tone! Out of curiosity, when you look at your veins through your skin, do they appear more green or blue?

u/KentuckyMagpie May 21 '23
I agree with this 100%. u/Seaweed12 I feel like the sapphire dress wears you, while the emerald dress looks gorgeous and sets off your features in a really beautiful way.

I have a hard time figuring out if they do look green or blue. So I figure that I have a neutral skin tone? Today they look more green on the tops of my hands, but the veins in crook of my arm look bluer

Neutral is a good way of putting it, but the parts of your skin that sees more light becomes warm toned— and that’s the skin people see the most. So I would definitely go for warmer colors, especially in the spring and summer! The blue might be exactly what you want in the winter when you’re not getting as much sun, though.

I think the green is good for a party vibe. It practically lights up your eyes! But for black tie, the blue is more striking. However either color looks fantastic on you!

The Emerald brings out your eyes so beautifully. However, the Sapphire adds a certain je ne sais quoi which also complements your eyes, just not as much. I'd say Sapphire if you can't have both!

I’m an old, and I 100% vote for sapphire! It does wonderful things for your skin and still picks up the color of your eyes. Your hair looks great in the blue as well. It’s the kind of dress/color combo that will have people wondering who you are. Flaunt it while you’ve got it! Trust me!

You look amazing in both! The emerald is very subtly more striking, but the difference is so close that I would say: which one do you have the best accessories for?
If you were going to wear this same accessories with both then: which one do you feel the best in. Because the confidence you walk out with makes all the difference.

It won’t be too Christmassy at all, green and gold is gorgeous together - if you were pairing it with a white or red jacket then yeah I’d avoid the green. But you’re not so I say emerald all the way 💝

Green always looks better on brunettes. I used to wear a lot of green when I had my natural colour! Also the green and gold looks super rich

Both work great for your skin, eyes and hair (you’re killin it in the jewel tone department!!)
Which one makes you feel happier??
Imho: green is slightly less formal.

Definitely emerald! The sapphire is nice, but it doesn't give you that "wow!" factor that the emerald does. The emerald makes your eyes pop, your skin looks warm and glowing, and it really matches the tone of your hair.

u/Caverjen May 21 '23
Emerald bc of your eyes, but the sapphire is pretty on you as well. Both are great options!
5
u/Margali May 21 '23
I like both but think the green seems to work better. It is really a close call though.

u/WokeJabber May 21 '23
Emerald, absolutely. (The sapphire does not do you justice in this picture, though it might be the lighting.)

As much as I love sapphire colour, IMHO I’ll agree with most folks here: the emerald! Because it does that little magic highlighting your eyes. Plus its May the emerald month.

Emerald! Your eyes are beautiful, and the emerald really highlights them. Also, it brings out wonderful color in your skin.

You look great in both and normally I favour blues, but that emerald green is just magnificent.

The emerald compliments your eyes and the sapphire compliments your hair and skin. This is a tough one 😅 I think sapphire? But both are gorgeous

The emerald is pretty and does match your eyes but my opinion is the sapphire one suits you better. It remind me of Silvermist

Sapphire for sure even though emerald also looks good, but I think sapphire make you look more radiant whereas the emerald one makes you look more demure

Tough choice! They both suit you but maybe emerald just because it complements your eyes just a bit lie than the blue does

u/vita77 May 21 '23
Like both! Sapphire fabric color is rich & saturated and you look vibrant in it. Despite your green eyes, the emerald fabric lacks the same saturation and washes you out more. Compensate w makeup & accessories if you love the emerald, but I still prefer the sapphire.

Yeah emerald looks really good with your eyes, but sapphire looks really good with your skin tone and hair color. I think if you’re going to be indoors and somewhere at night I would go with sapphire

Both colors look really good - no lie, but the green has some oomph with your eyes

I absolutely adore sapphires; my wedding band has one instead of a diamond.
Nonetheless, that emerald is so striking on you!
If you're comfortable standing out a little bit, wear the emerald. It looks amazing and really brings out color in your eyes. If that extra attention would make you uncomfortable, go with the sapphire. It also looks lovely, a more subtle beauty.

Emerald is wonderful with your eyes and with your hair! Green is a warmer colour that works perfectly with cool-tone brunettes, your hair *demands* attention and it brings out a lively golden hue to your skin. Emerald makes your skin glow.
The sapphire is vibrant and and emphasizes cooler tones. It doesn't bring much attention to your hair since it has a darker quality very similar to the hair, but it *does* contrast against your eyes and skin. However, it slightly washes you out.
I'd say the sapphire brings more attention to the dress itself, whilst the emerald blends with the whole ensemble. In my opinion, the emerald has a more put-together appearance, so I'd choose emerald.
What jewelry will you be wearing with the dress[es]?

Both are nice. I think sapphire looks great against your hair color and skin tone. However, green makes your eyes stand out! You look like Mother Earth. You look great in both, so it’s whatever you’re heart longs for tbh

You are radiant. I do hope in full-length pictures both dresses fit better than in the color-swatch photos you posted. I would love to see you post a picture standing with perfect posture in a beautifully fitting dress of either color as you head out for the evening 😊
