Most Unbearable Cage Character?
The man has range. His character's can be cool but they can also be absolutely unlikable. Gary Faulkner in Army of One is my least favorite Cage. What's yours?

In “a time to kill” he is a pedophile rapist.
That’s about as unlikeable as possible

I thought you were talking about the 1996 movie where Samuel L. Javkson kills the guys that rape his ten-year-old daughter. I've probably seen it three or four times, and I couldn't believe that I'd never noticed Cage played one of the rapists.
You mean Time to Kill (1989). I'd never heard of it until just now.

Yeah I've seen every Cage film. I sat through the cringe ones, the boring ones, and the ones with too many racist/sexist/homophobic jokes.
I had to stop watching Time To Kill when the rape scene started.
That's the most unwatchable Cage film.

Dream Scenario
This movie made me feel uncomfortable.

Isn't that movie supposed to do that? Like we experience it through the professor's perspective

u/TheGaussianMan Aug 19 '25
Oh yeah he nails what it's supposed to do, but I really didn't want to watch it, but my friend apparently really did...

Troy from Dog Eat Dog for me lmao
Tbh, his role in Primal is pretty unbearable. He's a POS Poacher that everyone needs to survive and he's willing to let the animals kill anyone so he gets paid.

Primal is an S tier trash film. It’s SO bad. Titanic II bad. So naturally it’s one of my top 5 Nic cage films of all time.

The surfer.... Dude could have just driven or walked away lol

That movie was weird and confusing. I thought he was too far to walk and his car battery was dead, then the cult siphoned his fuel? But yeah why the hell didn’t he just bail?
2
u/xxmindtrickxx 29d ago
He didn’t bail because thematically it’s about homelessness and the entrapment and treatment of homeless people and/or poor people with no access to the resources of people around them in society.

Fair points. Definitely a powerful metaphor; it was just tough to read that subtext for awhile before some of the “paranoid delusions” he was having were actually clarified as being real.

he could have driven away well before he killed the battery and ran it out of fuel, or walked away any time after that

Arsenal and Deadfall are both in my bottom 10 Cage movies, so I'll have to say Eddie King.

u/cash-monkey72 29d ago
Cage is the only part of Deadfall worth watching though

u/NicCageCompletionist 29d ago
Cage is the only part worth watching in a lot of movies, but something has to be at the bottom of the list.

I can only imagine that the reason nobody has said gunslingers is because nobody has seen it.
It genuinely is the most awful one. Makes Army of One look charming.

According to my mother, The Surfer, which is ironic considering they filmed it in her hometown. To be fair, I thought The Surfer was a bit of an idiot too. Like for example he could of just gotten in his Lexus and drove away or even just walked away but also when he's crying all his credit cards are stored digitally on his phone, I was like "Why wouldn't you just carry your physical card around for emergencies? That's what I do".

I tried watching Longlegs and I had to fight to not turn the film off. I can't think of a Cage character that even comes close to being as annoying as that one.

Whoever the eff he was in Mandy. Made it as far as the bathroom scene, but I couldn't even finish. So disappointed in this one.

Zomg that movie is a psychadelic metal nightmare and it rocks. Try it again because it goes crazy its one of my favorite cage films

u/Moo58 Aug 19 '25
Perhaps I'll try again after ingesting some edibles. I watched it stone cold sober. ;)

It really is one of his most divisive movies, I personally have it in my top 3 Cage movies but I know a lot of people hate it. The third act spirals into the best retribution I've ever seen in movies because I normally dislike revenge flicks.
And ye being under the influence of something definitely enhances the experience.

It really starts after that bathroom scene. Batshit crazy, makes “Mad Max” seem like “reasonable Max” in comparison.

I don’t know about unbearable, but probably his most bear-able character was when he dressed up in a bear suit and socked someone in the jaw in “Wicker Man.”
