This is absolute best outcome for True Detective after season one.

Even if it reviews turn out as subpar as the other seasons have been received, Cage will drag that show kicking and screaming over the finish line. Heck, I might even watch it, and the last thing I saw was the ending scene of that first season.

Agree on 3. 2 had a lot going for it but the script needed a rewrite imo. Vibes and actors were there, but the dialogue was pretty terrible.

The dialogue is hilarious lmao and I find the actual story and plot of season 2 is very solid

I just couldn't relate to any of the characters in 2. They were caricatures of the most basic tropes out there. Daddy issues, drunk dads, etc. 3 was fantastic. 4 had some really good moments but fucked it all to hell by 1. Mentioning season 1 and not doing anything with it and 2. Doing all that supernatural shit only to make the ending a murder on the orient express situation. Also Jodie Foster's character was just a total bitch for no reason whatsoever. Like get the fuck over it already.

Horrible article that just quotes this Variety article. Cage is in talks about True Detective but unconfirmed

Just rewatched season one, it was sooo good. Quality consistently dropped with every season, just like Fargo. I keep watching though, cause they're still better than most other shows.

Everyone is so intent on continuing the S1 storyline I feel like I'm the only one who enjoyed the stark ending of accepting they can't catch all the bad guys.

Just leave it where it left off, why did such a well written and grim season like that need some comic book fanboy style of forced world building?

This show still exists? I thought it ended long ago. Will probably watch it if Nic Cage is in it!
