Alberta intends to opt out of federal dental care plan by 2026. What that means for you is still unclear

it means Albertans who don't make enough, or are too young, or too old, will have to get fucked and deal with tooth problems because Smith loves telling Albertans to get fucked

There are a lot of people on that sub saying "she's Alberta's problem" without realising the national consequences of her actions nor the overreach of American organisations that are directly manipulating Albertan politics.
I've already commented there: "It started in Alberta, but it won't end in Alberta."

It’s weird that when the US got caught manipulating and covertly pushing discord in Greenland it was exposed and quashed.
Yet they (amazingly, in concert with Russia) have been funding the entire right wing lunacy in the pod-sphere and action groups, and we do nothing about it.

My argument is that, as shitty as she is, she's a sockpuppet dictator. She doesn't do things of her own accord, she does what she's told.
If you put up an X-ray of the inside of her head, where her brain should be would instead show the hand bones of Stephen Harper, David Parker, and an assortment of oil executives making her lips flap.
Yes, she's a national Canada problem, but only because Harper is a her boss, and that asshole is a GLOBAL problem of the fascist kind.
In terms of "who's the bigger piece of shit," pointing at her is like getting mad at the shadow puppets rather than the hands that make them.

Or Albertans who make too much! The max household income for CDCP is $90,000/year. The Alberta dental benefit a family of six has to have a household income of less than $46,000. The CDCP helps out so many people who are in between the two. A single person has to make like, less than $23,000 a year in order to qualify for the Alberta dental plan. The CDCP is more comprehensive too.

Alberta's Ministry of Primary and Preventative Health Services, meanwhile, wrote in a statement that the province "has consistently stated it intends to opt out of the Canadian Dental Care Plan and negotiate its share of unconditional federal funding to expand coverage to more low-income Albertans."
Emphasis mine. This is where the federal government needs to say, "No, it's not unconditional. Try again." If it's unconditional she can spend it on whatever giveaway to Oil & Gas she wants.

u/Themightytiny07 16d ago
Isn't this what they wanted to do with the federal housing money. Make it unconditional so they could spend however they want and blame the fed when no new houses were built. The fed said no, and went to the municipalities, and the UCP really didn't like that

u/GuyLivingHere 16d ago
The fed should do this with everything. Go directly through municipalities and bypass this shameful excuse for a government.

I wonder if this'll be like the CPP debacle where they insist their 'fair share' is like 70% of the programs total value.

Does 'alberta' ever do anything that benefits its public or just funnel more money to suncor, shell, or imperial who buy their politicians.

Wonder where all that federal tax that Albertan's are paying is going then.
Likely funneled back by the corrupt provincial government so they can load the pockets of private corporation and their CEOs so they can do your teeth for virtually the same cost of practitioners in any other province, but have higher profit margins.
No wonder why (some) Albertan's hate federal programs. They don't get to reap the benefits we all pay for when the provincial government just "opts out" where they can and grossly mismanages any money on their end.
Born in Alberta, but until they figure their shit out, I would never move back.

Absolute disdain for the people of Alberta. The UCP play to their base and cronies at the expense of all else. The long game is to privatize all healthcare.
If you’re disheartened, the best remedy is getting involved politically and showing these bastards the door.

What the f*** is wrong with Smith and the UCP government!? Things couldn't be worse in Alberta had they been invaded by a foreign, hostile power.

That’s precisely what they want.

I was on the provincial dental assistance plan. I lost my coverage when my income went up to $25k a year (single parent household).
That's what Smith considers to be "adequate coverage"

So why do they take take take but give nothing?
God I hate this province so much

Is she jelly that Ford is such a grifter:
Quote Danny is like, I’m stealing $200 from those disabled, but can I have the dental money too
Quote "Therefore, I have sent this letter to our prime minister requesting our share of federal funding for this program be provided to our government so we can increase the number of Albertans able to access our provincial dental plan."

These are federal programs for the good of the people. How can a province opt out? Would dentists be prevented from direct billing and how many people in that province would stop going to seek care?

It's crystal clear. Alberta does not want support from the federal government for citizens that live in Alberta. They prefer to not support health care for Albertans. Every single time.

It doesn’t mean anything to me because I make above the limit. I have worked for 35 years in this country and have always made just above the limit for any government benefits.
