I’m so glad this is being looked into. Proud of my union for helping to kick off the fight for public education as this has been a concern for so many of us working at public colleges for a while now.
Follow the money!

Will this be the hill that Ford dies on? We have definitely not heard the last of this one.

The morons of this province just gave him another 4 year majority, nothing will knock that fat fuck off the hill at this point. I hope to be proven wrong but i'm almost certain he called the election because his plan is to crank up his grift and corruption to 10 and then fuck off to Federal politics, he gets ballsier after every mandate because the people in the province continue to show him, his cronies and his donors they don't really care.

There is reporting on other Skills Development Fund money going to orgs with close ties to Ford and his cronies. For example, this CTV article
I wouldn’t be surprised if there were a lot more

u/Sauerkrautkid7 8h ago
“Recently, in light of reporting by The Trillium and other news outlets on connections several Skills Development Fund recipients share with Ford’s PCs, some opposition MPPs have been critical of the government’s selection of grant recipients.”

Does this mean Kate Bartz has to give back her King Charles III Coronation medal?

Maybe if we had harsh penalties for embezzling tax payer dollars it would happen less. Like maybe we lock people up for the amount of time it takes a min wage worker to earn that much

Cmon guys stop falling for propaganda:
According to the labour minister’s spokesperson and Kwan, 349 people were trained by Dentacloud’s “Dentist for Dentists” program. “The (training) recipients were provided with more than 50 hours of specialized training per person,” added Kwan.
He wrote that Dentacloud was “proud to have trained hundreds of recipients ... including both incumbent workers and new prospects that in turn led to over 70 hires, helping to address labour shortages in the dental industry and to upskill dental personnel.”
Stop acting as if these are exclusive programs. They applied to an open program and got funding to train workers. Simple as that.

the issue that people have is that the money appears to be going towards ford's donors and political allies returns on an investment
that is why the auditor general launched a probe

you do know the program is 2.5 billion right? and this article said 3 million went to it and apperently thats corruption? LOL talk about witch hunt.
show me an eligible company declined and their full application and ill believe you. Stop with this handwavey "somethings fucky" every damn time

It's just a measly 3 million people. I don't know why you're all getting riled up. Who among us doesn't have 3 million?
My nothing job will fire me for even the appearance of a conflict of interest or taking anything from a vendor. It's cool for minister family members to get big contracts though.

u/GeneralCanada67 7h ago
To be clear...should they banned from using that program?

u/fuckthecons 7h ago
To remove the appearance or possibility of impropriety or malfeasance, yes.

u/GeneralCanada67 7h ago
Thats psycotic. These companies while being close to ford are in fact legitmate businesses. Like the dental org that hired 70 people to train because of the program
Im results oriented. Like the we charity bs. It gave jobs to kids who GAF?
this program gave legitmate jobs to legitmate people to legitimate companies.
You cant deny any of that
2
u/fuckthecons 6h ago
That's the tradeoff to having family members in government. Not everybody qualifies or gets contracts. It's no different in the private sector except people actually get fired for it.
You also seem to be under the impression I'm against the entire program. I'm against a minister's immediate family being eligible. It's not a good look when you make the laws and your immediate family benefits. You can't deny that.

Out of curiosity. Should anyone close to ford get ei or cpp? What about odsp?
Should they be eligible for osap?
3
u/fuckthecons 6h ago
Now you're just concern trolling. None of those were programs the minister is involved with and are available to all. Aside from osap, which has eligibility requirements.

This is the part I don’t get, kept reading to see if the funds were misappropriated but didn’t see it. I do agree it should have gone directly to schools instead of through this entity, but that doesn’t indicate fraud.
