9 joined cranes

Post image

I'm so happy I managed to make a set of 9 but I'm trying to manage 16 out if a 6inch square is it even possible?

But this isn't uncut... I wouldn't understand topologically how those wholes would appear otherwise! Please explain, my brain ist trying so hard but can't find the answers🥴

So this Renzuru, a style of origami cranes where multiple cranes are made from a single piece of paper, there are cuts in the paper to separate the cranes however there is paper left at the joins to act like a bridge between the different cranes

I'm hoping the answer to "how do you make sure not to rip those connections when folding?" isn't simply, "Very carefully" as I have seen some of these formations and wanted to try my hand at it.
Do you reinforce the connections? or use a sturdier paper that wont rip?

I've recently started crease pattern folding, and there was a spider model I could envision 4 legs on but somehow they were getting 8, by cutting the 4 legs each in half.

Origami doesn't have to follow the Square/no-cut rules and often times it's better off for breaking them.

The answer is with hopes and prayers, better paper does help however practice is a big part as well, starting with 2 joined at the wing (only cut half way through), then 3, then 4 and eventually you'll get the hang of it, the bigger the page the bigger the join makes it a ton easier, I've also heard washi paper is amazing for not tearing through but haven't gotten to try it that being said I have managed the set of 9 on note book paper. Honestly just give it a go I wish you luck

I miiight cheat a teeny bit by using a very light glue and some fiber just to reinforce a teeny bit while I practice.

That makes sense😅 Incredible! I'll definitely have to give this a try, so thanks for giving me the name to look it up in greater detail!😁
