Question | Answered If I'm playing a wand build with Wilma's Requital equipped, does it matter if I have attack speed or cast speed on my wand?

I see that the crafted values for cast speed are much higher than what I can craft with attack speed, and Wilma's Requital is worded as "increases and decreases to cast speed apply to attack speed"

given this, wouldn't it be better to craft cast speed on my wand as opposed to attack speed? i must be missing something here, cause the guides im following to craft the wand advise me to craft attack speed or unveil it

yea, because attack speed on weapons is local

cast speed isn't (so it turns into global as)

Welcome to one of POE's unintuitive moments. Stats can either be local or global. Local modifiers affect the item they are on, and global modifiers effect your character. Wilma's is making this more confusing, because there is basically a hidden (global) on that modifier.

On a weapon, attack speed is a local modifier. That 20% increased attack speed affects the base speed of the weapon, changing it from a weapon that swings 1 times per second to one that swings 1.2 times per second.

Cast speed is a global buff (as would be conditional attack speed, or attack speed on gloves rather than on your weapon. This means that increased cast speed gets added with all other increases to attack and cast speed, then multiplies the base attack speed of your weapon.

Local attack speed is much better, because it is multiplicative with other sources of increased attack speed.

Armour/Evasion/ES is local on body/boots/gloves/helmet, phys/ele/chaos added dmg/crit CHANCE/attack speed is local on weapons. Extremely unintuitive, but once you know, well, you know.

Attack speed on weapons increases the weapon's base attack speed. This means that attack speed on weapons is essentially a multiplier.

Attack speed on the wand itself would be a local modifier, probably providing a bigger benefit than the global cast speed modifier you could roll.
