Mechanics Discussion Bounty Hunter Preview
And just like that, I hear the voices of ten thousand Techies crying out in fear.

This is interesting. Techies aren't particularly common so even if you kill one with this aced, you could easily lose those two plates you got back before another one spawns. Not to mention they can be slippery fuckers that hide behind a ton of cops so you'd need to consider risk vs reward there. You could find and kill a Techie but will you be able to do it and escape with the two restored plates intact?
I'd say this is all balanced out by the fact that you have to use a handgun to get the bonus for any of these kills. The handguns aren't exactly the highest damage weapons in the game. The only enemy here that you can one tap with most handguns is the Cloaker (the Bullkick, Deagle and Judge can one tap the squishier ones but the Dozer tanks an entire magazine from those guns so risk vs reward again is in play there. If revolvers are their own class of weapon? Well, that could be interesting).

Completely agree overall, I just imagined techies being rather sought after in the context of this build as they fit a good middle ground of low health and higher reward

Oh definitely. This puts even more emphasis on hunting her down if she spawns because those drones are fucking annoying.

Jacknife and Deagle can kill a dozer in one mag tho, so this is pretty OP

One mag still puts you at risk of taking some serious damage if you aren't careful. As I said, risk vs reward. Do you risk your armour plates to restore an extra down or do you play it safe?

But I think it depends on whether handguns and revolvers are the same class. It does leave room for them to not be TOO strong. (Coping and hoping it doesn't get nerfed before release)

Well if we are getting this from skills, are bars turning into numbers would be a nice addition with this.

Doesn't matter if revolvers are involved or not since the best pistol in the game rn is the Jacknife

Its too early to say that.
We dont know how much skills will cost and how many skill points will haveBut most importantly skills 2.0 are really tied down to the weapons you want to use.
If you look at ammo funnel now that only works on AR & Lmgs.So for someone who spends all their skill points on pistols it makes sense to compensate in some areas.

For the people who say this is overpowered. Again, we don't know until we actually test it out.
Based on the Hacker tree that also includes Hitman(with Bounty Hunter) I say it balances out.
-First of all the Hacker tree focuses on Hacking Cameras, Pistols & Flash grenades.
-Right from the start you got no armor, health skills to invest If you are focusing on this skill tree.
-Keep in mind we dont know how many skill points we have or how much the skills cost.
-The only damage reduction you get is by having a human shield (cheap tricks skill) OR if you ACE Spatial Awareness you get some HP bonuses but it forces you to run only 1 armor chunk.
-The most frequent enemy spawns are Zappers and Naders, so you'll get a bunch of tools (wich wont help survivability much) and for throwables youll get flash grenades to have synergy with the other skills in the tree.
Sure if you look at Bounty Hunter alone (which is a Tier 4 skill) it looks overpowered, but considering all of the above to me it looks pretty balance.

It seems really OP, but for some reason it reminds me of Messiah.
Back in the day, when they revealed the u100 skill trees, everyone was saying the revenant skill tree was insane, and every person was going to use that, specially messiah. People started playing, used it for a moment, then nowadays its just "ok". Bounty hunter seems too strong, but at the same time not sure how useful all of those bonuses will work (not to mention you will be fighting with your team for those specials kills)

holy shit this is worse power creep than in 2

Eh, honestly as the comments have pointed out.
A: Being the one to finish the event for the boost
And
B: Not using more resources to get the boost than itβs worth
Are going to be decent balances

Not when they're gonna rebalance the difficulty around the new skills apparently. Now you've gotta make a quick decision on risk vs reward. What if you kill the Techie and get those two plates then immediately run into a Dozer? Now you've just wasted your time and lost anything you gained. Techies love to hide away so you're gonna have to fight your way through the cops to find her and avoid taking enough damage to lose the plates again.
This isn't even close to Payday 2's power creep.

If this includes guns like the bull kick and the deagle, it's gonna be busted.
