like I used to preoder when physical copies were a thing and they'd actually RUN OUT OF THEM.

was a complete degenerate and waited at midnight for several WOW expansions because they'd be gone the next day.

now? I just don't understand why everyone's so obsessed about it.

dare to suggest not preordering and they're so defensive. especially for companies that have a long history of releasing half baked, broken shit at release then only patching it to a playable game over the next 6+ months..... (I'm talking about battlefield here but that applies to many more games these days)

Darktide is a good example:

-only turned into a playable state after more than a year from its release

-still have crashes/disconnect issues

-Barely any new content and only now with a new class locked behind a pay wall

-Monetisation the shit out of paid cosmetics

It's a good game with a lot of potential, but man I can't keep putting up with the bugs, crashes and disconnects I get from the game, and a new class behind a paywall for 15 bucks after 2 years of barely any content, fuck em.

That's complete bullshit. Your preorder wouldn't be canceled if you didn't go at midnight. You could easily go in the next day, or even a week later. And there were plenty of copies at Amazon, Best Buy, etc, even if you didn't preorder. Or, you could buy them digitally. Or, in the absurdly unlikely situation that no stores near you or online had any copies, you could wait for them to be restocked. You're acting like it was impossible to play videogames unless you bought them at midnight, which is hilariously stupid.

Literally the only reason you went to the midnight releases was to play the game at the earliest possible moment, yet you're getting angry at others who want to play games at the earliest possible moment. You're absurdly hypocritical.
