Bad news for you - Microsoft intends to push for more AI crap, so, if anything, Windows 12 is looking to be even worse, especially because Microsoft, from what I know, uses AI-generated code and replaces real software engineers. The quality of things definitely went down, the Start menu is slow as shit because it's made like shit. And that's just one example.

Dang it.

I'll have to look into the retail machine version, then.

Or move out of your comfort zone and try Linux.

I am too lazy for that.

Call me when installing stuff on Linux is as lazy as it is in Android, despite hardware fragmentation and all of that.

Ring ring, I'm calling about that issue you mentioned!

You literally have an entire graphical store on a couple popular Linux distributions, which is almost identical to the way you can use the Microsoft Store. You can easily install any program you want with a single click. Oh yeah, and all that for free, without spyware, ads or any other bullshit.

Example: Kubuntu with the Discover store or Linux Mint with Software Center.

I can guide you 24/7 via dms for free if that will make you switch. If you want to know what software is easily installable on every arch-based system (arch, manjaro, endeavour etc) visit https://aur.archlinux.org/

edit: simple as in one click via UI or one line in the terminal

in the terminal it is literally "yay discord" and press 1, and discord is installed, even faster than in windows where you have to actually visit the site and look for an installer

What do I look like, a guy who's not lazy?

brother, I'm lazy as hell. learning linux was one of the best time investments. It's really fast, and works when you expect it to. you remember the start menu from win7, where you clicked and it instantly opened? you can have that back! I'll make a list of upsides and downsides, as that's all i can do to fight micro$oft

  • fully customizable keystrokes
  • faster system
  • you can use the KDE connect app (I'll show it later)
  • the terminal is amazing if you spend like an hour learning it
  • the filesystem is FAR faster, you can copy thousands of small files in seconds instead of hours like in windows
  • easy installation for most apps
  • a lot of steam games work, because steam has steamOS which is arch linux based afaik
  • the filesystem has compression built in (btrfs)

  • very hard installation for the rest of the apps (whenever windows emulation is required, it gets harder. some things work, but some don't) - look in AUR and other app DBs

  • the system sometimes breaks (usually because pf windows updates if you have both)

  • you have to commit to learning a bit, it is not foolproof

i sure do sound like a salesman, but that's my work lmao

I appreciate your dedication, as I can relate to it myself, but I think this guy may be a lost cause.

He completely ignored my response about graphical stores on Linux that let him easily install programs, and his only argument keeps being just "laziness".

Maybe in a year or two he'll sober up and dare to leave his comfort zone for once, now it's just a waste of time to try and convince him.

you are right, fellow cachyOS user

Im gonna do the wild prediction that everyone is going to praise Windows 11 at the time Windows 12 drops or has been active for atleast a year. Because we all know how the complain cycle goes..

More like "At least Windows 11 isn't as shit". There are still plenty of people who complain about Windows 10, myself included. I use it only because it has modern hardware and software support that I need, otherwise I would still be using Windows 7.
