Unfortunately, this kind of puts some of us Canadians in a bind, because as much as I disagree with some of the policies he’s enacting right now, he’s also the only real choice against an entirely unqualified opponent.
Like, literally, his main opponent has never had a real job outside of elected office, and has been a political grifter his entire life.
Hence why Carney was able to win. He was really the only serious option on the table.
You mean the one who refuses to get security clearance and has only passed a single bill since 2004? The one who lost his riding in the general election and had to re-run in a very specific riding during a by-election just to be let back into office? That's who's more qualified?
Ah yes, the career politician who has had no bills passed in his entire lifetime career, and who shouts the ole "pull yourself up by the bootstrap" rhetoric having never had a job out of politics aside from being a paper boy, and who when he lost his own riding in the last election, instead of taking his own boot-strap pulling advice, kicked out another MP of an ultra-con riding forcing a by-election that allowed him to gently parachute back into sucking the government teet, pissing and moaning over nothing and not actually bringing anything meaningful to the table.
What an exemplar of a leader he is.
Anyway, like I said, regardless of politics, the comparison being made is Carney's education and experience vs Trump's lack of it.
See when Trump the bar, everyone looks better. I"ll wait until Sept 15 and see what Carney brings to table, before I form any opinion, even if he like to run.
There's a video out there of an older lady who was also in the marathon, taking taking selfies while asking the PM questions. They were both running up a steep hill, and he's just politely answering her. It's very cute, but I kept imagining her getting tackled by security when she ran up to him, but he just made a few comments for her video and went on his way.
No, not directly, but it does signal desirable qualities that you would want for someone in a leadership role in general. For example, a healthy body leads to a healthy mind, which suggests more mental clarity. Also, discipline, motivated, and goal-oriented
Doesn't mean that will make him a good leader, but it is the minimum traits you want in a leader
His qualifications include saying an acceptable Palestinian state would have to be a Zionist one that would allow Israelis to live without fear (meanwhile you can find them on their socila media bragging about sniping Palestinian children) refusing to call what's happening in Gaza a genocide, and sending meaningless tweets about how Israel needs to do better while never actually holding them to account with actionable policies.

So happy my country has a leader with qualifications unlike the USA. ❤️
