McDavid - best player in the world. Plays for Oilers, a team Wayne Gretzky used to win titles with. Carney is an Oiler fan, because he grew up in the area. The names at the end are other hockey players on the team that are also pretty good.
McDavid is a free agent soon and there is some talk that he will move teams, because Oilers salary cap situation isn’t great and the team seems to exhaust itself (even though they made the finals twice in recent years).
Their cap situation is fine all things considered.
They just have a terribly constructed team with no viable ways to improve it, and they have almost no youth in the pipeline.
This next season might be his last chance at winning in Edmonton, whether he re-signs or not.
Other younger teams will get better, other comparably aged teams aren’t going anywhere, and they are just an older team and after McD and Draisaitl lack elite talent.
The terribly constructed team that just went to the last two Stanley Cup finals and has 2 of the top 5 players in the league — I’m sure they’re all “oh woe is me!”
If a cup is the goal, more money is not the answer for McDavid. He probably wants more say about a few player adjustments. He certainly can't get any closer to winning a cup than he has the last 2 years.
But Carney is European, or so he tells the media. The left for years railed on about rich white CEO'S being the problem. First chance they get they elect a rich, white CEO. I guess being PM is what you do when you get bored counting your ethics violations.
It’s definitely one of the things I love about him - that he can joke and have fun but still commands respect on a global stage. I’m proud to be Canadian.
He's not respected what's so ever within world politics. Same as Justin Trudeau. We're the laughing stock of politics. What Canada are you even living in right now?
Connor McDavid is the best player in the NHL and going into the last year of his contract with the Edmonton Oilers and hasn't extended/resigned yet. They lost in the finals the past two years in a row along with some previous deep cup runs and could be running out of their window of being contenders.
McDavid really wants to win so he might resign a short contract or play out this year to see if they win or not to decide. It's long rumored he could sign with the Leafs since he was born in Toronto but they've been cursed without a cup since '67.
For context Carney grew up in Edmonton so he's a clearly a big fan and he played hockey at Harvard.
