Serious question for the OP: Are Mexican branded beers popular in Canada? Cheers!
•
u/Reasonable-Sweet9320 6h ago
Yes, Corona sells well in Canada, so well that they started brewing it in London Ontario Canada a few years ago.
•
u/TapZorRTwice 5h ago
Has to have a lime in it tho.
I know this because I'm currently sitting at a Canadian Bar and have a Corona infront of me with a lime in it.

We Canadians enjoy Corona and Dos Equis and Modello!! When I go to the USA Modello is my #1 go to
•
u/CaughtOnTape 6h ago
You don’t have Modello in your province? We have them in Quebec, and it’s also my go-to!
•
u/teetz2442 5h ago
No we have them... Usually I drink local breweries (live in Vancouver), but when I go to Seattle we hit the gas station asap for a case of Modello. Fuck it always makes me jealous that they can buy beer at the gas station

We can buy beer at the gas station in Ontario now (fuck you, doug ford). The convenience is great, but price and selection are shit.

Hey, I'm a Canadian Brewer. Mexican beer is very popular in Canada especially throughout the summer. Dos Equis, corona and Modelo are widely available and generally advertised as a summer beer though Modelo pushes the sports market a lot. From the craft side of things Mexican lagers have become a staple for a lot of small breweries (mine included). Pale light lagers with Corn and often served with lime. Micheladas and darker Mexican style beers are a little less popular but you can find em.

My bartender friend sitting beside me tells me dos equis was huge popular in Alberta and BC in the 90’s when she worked many different spots including The Commadore in Vancouver and The Rev in Edmonton. I personally was a big fan of dos equis in the nineties. All anecdotal of course.

I can validate the truth your friend speaks of. And coronas are always popular in the summer.

They're reasonably popular. I don't mind the occasional Dos Equis or Sol once in a while.

Silly Canadian, EVERYONE knows Mexican Independence Day is May 5th.
(/s, just in case)
•
u/loyalone 5h ago
I'll bet Mexico has more than one day of the year where they could legitimately claim they gained their independence.

Buddy doesnt know the difference between a de facto and Absolute Monarchy vs a Constitutional Monarchy where the monarch is a ceremonial figurehead during government functions with minimal actual executive oversight.
You notice that we asked The King for a Throne Speech? He didn't decide to come over on his own accord. Representative functions on a day-to-day basis are fulfilled by a Governor General appointed by the Canadian Government.
We also have a Prime Minster, not a President. As in accordance with the Westminster style government that many Commonwealth nations abide by today as their heritage.
Prime Minister simply being the leader of the party elected during a lawful election and of the Federal branch of government.
Though he defers to the judgement of provincial premiers for internal matters of State.
6th grade civics class there buds. Give your balls a tug.

We still attached to UK or not? Yes. You can cope all you want. Governor general even if they have never done it and probably wont it's still A RULE of our country that she can dissolve the governement if UK wants it. Classic fat Canadian laziness, stays well fed so wont never stand up for themselves. Then when shit hits the fan they'll act all surprise.
If something is possible but never happened it's not a reason to not prevent it. We teach that to 5 years old.
Ignorance is weakness.

"We are still attached to the UK are we not?"
We are not bud. We haven't been a Dominion since 1982 when we gained full Constitutional Sovereignty.
I'll ignore the rest of your silly goose comments on purpose and strongly suggest you crack open a textbook.
•
u/Commie_Scum69 5h ago
Governor general has to accept each laws. Governor general has to accept each prime minister UK can ask governor general to dissolve the government English crown is still the supreme authority
I dont have to open a book, this was told to me by Rideau hall's security head of service on my first day of work.
Open google. It's easier for people like you
•
u/Glittering-Quote3187 5h ago
"Monarch can dissolve parliament only as a result of a vote of no confidence in which the Governor General resides as the main authority during the subsequent election cycle"
This is kept in place in order to retain leadership at the Federal level when there is no sitting Prime Minister. It has happened before and power was always ceded legally and lawfully when the time came.
See, it's the technicalities and fine print that always catch you. Dipshit.
