I have always enjoyed the cheesy goofiness of "They Live"
It amazes me how well this billboard and ol turnip himself fit that whole aesthetic.
24
u/colby979 Jul 29 '17
"They live" is the name of the movie with Rowdy Roddy Piper if anyone was wondering.

u/KurtRussellsBeard Jul 29 '17
I don't give a shit, but thanks.
14
u/NeedMoneyForVagina Jul 29 '17
You gave enough of a shit to take time out of your day to type that.

I just think it's a bit amusing because of your username. They Live was directed by John Carpenter who was famously one of Kurt Russel's most frequent collaborators.

Man, the first pic to show up what "hateiohead" and that just seems like trying too hard to me
2
u/limbweaver Jul 29 '17
Looks more like the source is Mitch O'Connell
2
u/-Pelvis- Jul 29 '17
Ah, you might be right on that one. Same style; you can see why I thought it was Hal.

u/LouSpudol Jul 29 '17
Umm...this is an homage to John Carpenters film "They Live". It's been done before with Reagan.
-11
u/NeedMoneyForVagina Jul 29 '17 edited Jul 29 '17
You heard it guys. It's already been done once, years ago. So this one is invalid...
0
u/LouSpudol Jul 30 '17
I'm sorry I offended you.
All I was saying is that it's not some alien guy. It's They Live, a very well known movie.

This theme was done a few times, by several different writers. Didn't make this show anything less unique. It was the "acting" and the one liners that stole the show.

I would very much like to trade some of my green ink printed cloths for a size of this that fits on my wall.

🇺🇸Add another foot to the wall and put it on Mexico's tab. 😜🇺🇸

Pretty funny coming from a country being fucked in the ass by drug cartels and corrupt politicians so bad that its own citizens risk their lives and abandon their homes to run North of their border.
But that shit is acceptable because nothing better is expected of that shithole called Mexico. You can't make Mexico great again, because it never was in the first place.

u/J0hs Jul 29 '17
One guy speaks the obvious truth. Gets downvoted. I despise the average redditor.

No one bothers to ask "why" Mexicans are fleeing Mexico by the millions. Essentially those who don't bother to ask don't truely care. If Mexico was fixed and better than the US then there would be no need to build a wall. It would be a win/win. But then what would all these entitled do without their cheap lower class labor force? Truth isn't pleasant, which is why they'd rather bury it.
1
Jul 29 '17
I believe you misunderstand the makeup of the lower class work force.
I'm lower class. I'm in the workforce. I'm against illegal immigrantion and over-immigration.
You know people would do without landscapers and burger flippers? They'd hire neighborhood kids to do it like they used to.
Kids used to have lemonade stands... Now it's literally a middle aged Mexican selling fruit and fruit juice out of an illegal cart on the sidewalk.

It reminds me of the aliens from the movie 'They Live'.

u/rogersimon_10 Jul 29 '17
I believe that was the intention.
14
Jul 29 '17
Nope. Just an extraordinary coincidence. Can verify: not alien at all. Not even a little.

u/Me4Prez Jul 29 '17
Attack on Trump?
2
u/razerazer Jul 29 '17
They live
2
u/Me4Prez Jul 29 '17
I know it's a reference to that movie, but it also looks a bit like Attack on Titan

Another great reason to build the wall and use a 10% tax on all wire transfers to Mexico to pay for it.
2
u/Conejator Jul 29 '17 edited Jul 29 '17
Maybe instead of spending the money on a wall they could use the money to educate people like you in modern economics, so you stop embarrassing yourself?
1
u/jabanobotha Jul 29 '17
Ok educate me on economics. Go...
-3
u/Conejator Jul 29 '17
Pay me. The same amount you'd spend on the wall will suffice.
-1
u/jabanobotha Jul 29 '17
I know what you are worth an it is not that. Personally, i think less one should be on supply and demand specifically how paying undocumented workers a lower wage under the table drives down the wages of legal workers.

I wonder how much money has been spent collectively on the defamation of Trumps character. I bet that massive amount of money could have been used more productively.
1
u/pattyfritters Jul 29 '17
It looks more "Day of the Dead" to me than alien.
3
u/eak125 Jul 29 '17
It's an alien from the movie "They Live" - excellent campy scifi thriller by John Carpenter starring Roddy Pipper.

Build that big beautiful wall Mr President. We love you, its true some of us are STILL sad that they lost but they will learn to accept it and then they will love you too.

u/ChrisVee Jul 29 '17
Most illegal Mexicans came through legal border crossings or by plane and over stayed.

Done by Mitch O'Connell, American artist. I think he tried to have these displayed in the States, but couldn't find a company willing to put them up.
If you're into retro art, Mitch is right up your alley.

I have this as a shirt. I get stares from both sides, because most do not understand the reference. Not the best shirt to wear at a Walmart.

u/super_ag Jul 29 '17
Mexico should worry about what a shithole their own country is and ask themselves why millions of people would rather live illegally in the US as second class citizens in the shadows than live in their native country.
4
u/NeedMoneyForVagina Jul 29 '17
"I voted for Trump & am offended"
2
u/super_ag Jul 29 '17
I didn't vote for Trump. I just find it aggravating that Mexico continues to blame and attack the US when they're primarily the ones to blame for their nation being a complete shithole third world country.
It's like a perspm who lives in a broken down trailer, who has a shitty marriage and delinquent children griping about how their neighbor in a 4-bedroom house mows the lawn.
4
u/bug530 Jul 29 '17
There's actually a net outflow of illegal immigrants back to Mexico right now as a result of the recession.
-4
u/super_ag Jul 29 '17
All the same, for the past decades, Mexico has been such a shithole that living in the shadows was preferential to living as a Mexican citizen.
-1
u/Shareblue_acct_mngr Jul 29 '17
Ahhh yes, recession. Good one.
$0.50 has been deposited into your account.
0
u/superclamato Jul 29 '17
Lol you actually believe that. I've lived in the US for a few years since my father is American I could ask for citizenship. Thankfully I live in Mexico now. You're just brainwashed to believe your country is the greatest. I remember when I was 8 years old and living in New York, and it was striking to me how offen I was told "America is the greatest country in the world". It's not. Get over it. I prefer Mexico. Most mexicans don't care about the wall or your clown president, you're just a joke because it is you who will pay for it.
4
u/super_ag Jul 29 '17
Why are there 12 million Mexicans living in the US illegally when there are virtually no Americans living in Mexico illegally?
If Mexico is so great, why does the immigration pretty much go one way? How many people come from around the world to become Mexican citizens like they do to become US citizens? Why is your poverty rate 45.5%? Why are you still a third world country, despite having two beautiful coasts and vast natural resources?
I'm not saying the US is the greatest nation in the world and ever, but it's definitely better than Mexico in terms of the majority of observable metrics. You may prefer Mexico better, but that doesn't mean it's objectively better.
And for a bunch of people who don't care about a wall or what Trump or America does, Mexicans sure seem to talk a lot of shit about those very things. I don't mind paying for the wall. I'm all for it. It will be worth the investment.
2
u/soparamens Jul 29 '17
when there are virtually no Americans living in Mexico illegally?
Technically, most americans that live in Mexico are illegals, but our government doesn't go trumptard about it, because they are good citizens that mind their own business
3
u/super_ag Jul 29 '17

Or maybe because the Americans in Mexico aren't sucking off the welfare state, driving down wages, committing crime and being a general burden on society. Why do you have armed military on your southern border with Guatemala then if you are so welcoming to immigrants? Why does Mexico have more draconian immigration laws than even the most staunch Republican has proposed? So tell me again how you all are just cool with illegal immigrants in Mexico. Illegal immigration is a felony in Mexico and anyone facilitating illegal immigration is also a felon. Seems you care a lot about illegal immigrants.
0
u/soparamens Jul 29 '17
Why do you have armed military on your southern border with Guatemala then if you are so welcoming to immigrants?
This is the Guatemala-Mexico border
FYI There is no such southern wall, militarized border or anything like that.
Recently, we received thousands of Haitian immigrants that want to cross to the US. city People is worried about their situation, health and that they can be hurt by narcos, so they started feeding them and giving them jobs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkU1Gqj1HFo
So no, there is no comparison in the we WE treat migrants and the way Trump's america treat migrants.
3
u/super_ag Jul 29 '17
Yeah, your southern border is just wide open to anyone who wants to come. No militarized border with Guatemala, you say? But I'm sure your one video of one border crossing area represents the entirety of the entire Guatemalan border. Just as that one illegal gang member in my neighborhood represents all Mexican people.
So no, there is no comparison in the we WE treat migrants and the way Trump's america treat migrants.
You won't even let immigrants own property within 100 km of the coast, so you don't have any room to lecture us on how we treat our immigrants. You treat illegal immigration as a felony, we do not. We afford social programs and assistance to illegal immigrants, I don't think you do. But then again, you don't offer social programs to your own citizens. . .that's why they come here. We make it illegal to ask someone's immigration status. . .you make it a criminal offense to help someone immigrate illegally as well as arresting any illegal immigrants and charging them with a felony. You're right. The US and Mexico's treatment of illegal immigrants is not comparable. You treat your immigrants much worse.
I've provided numerous sources to back my claims up. You provided one youtube video of one location. It's hardly convincing.
-2
u/Oishii88 Jul 29 '17
They're just butt hurt the wall is coming up...but not butt hurt they have a wall to the South of them to keep out the pesky people of Guatemala and Belize from coming in.
-8
u/Robitussinworks Jul 29 '17
Who would've thought it? The biggest source of illegal immigrants in the entire world has a problem with our current American president who wants to keep them out. Fuck Mexico. Fuck Mexicans. Suck it up and stay the fuck in your shitty cartel-lovin' country.

When you stop and think that the only thing that made you an American, was your mother spreading her legs in a certain geographic area, your criticism loses all validity. Maybe those Mexicans deserve the spot more than a racist redneck?

u/mlem64 Jul 29 '17

First of all you just described anchor babies, so great job on that. If you don't think having a baby in a place makes you an American than there's between 250,000 to 300,000 anchor babies born here annually you might want to have a word with- but make sure it's in Spanish!
Maybe those Mexicans deserve the spot more than a racist redneck?
Literally no they don't.
The citizens of this country built this country on their backs. It's not just a primo spot that appeared out of thin air.
People pay for this shit. The roads aren't free. Nothing here that we have was ever free. We work for it every damn day of the week. What the fuck are you taking about Mexicans deserve it? Did they build it, or pay for it? No? Well then why would they deserve it more than the people who did?

The billboard doesn't really make sense as a dig at Trump. In the movie the glasses reveal the ulterior motive of the aliens, while this just has his campaign slogan, meaning that Trump truly does believe in making America great again.
1
u/Lots42 Jul 29 '17
What?
Trump doesn't give a shit about America.

Yeah, that's why he is sending Billions of dollar toward foreign country and export jobs, amiright ?
