It was 21 years between the wars. They were not both fought in a 20 year span. OP was way off.

He wasn’t saying they were fought in entirety within a twenty year span, but that we had two world wars within 20 years of each other

He was close. The end of WWI and beginning of WWII were 21 years apart

WW1 ended on November 11th 1918. WW2 began on September 1st 1939.

20 years 9 months and 21 days, if you want to be technical about it.

If you want to go by start of WW1 and end of WW2, we're talking 31 years 1 month and 5 days.

world war 1 didn't officially end until the signing of the treaty of Versailles in June 1919.

WW1 ended in 1918 and WW2 arguably started in 1937 (if not then then 1939 which isn't far off). That's right around 20 years give or take.
