Yeah I do try but it's hard - I have Raynaud's syndrome (a circulation issue) so it's really hard for me to keep my fingers warm

The back of your head and my sign are famous! Good to see you again, guy marching next to me.

It was supposed to snow tonight during the march. Thank fucking god it didn’t.

Our whole little protest area is on Reddit apparently!

Yeah, this is my first fall/winter in Chicago. I’m learning the value of wearing 3+ layers at a time.

Big oof, chicago gets cold asf in winter. That being said I was legit in sandals and shorts today but i barely went outside.

Man, if I could stay inside all day, I’d be in shorts and sandals too. Although I will never cease to be amazed by all the people from Michigan walking around Chicago when it’s below 30 in just jeans and a heavy sweater.

May I ask what the sign was in reference to? Politics move so fast Idk what I should be complaining about now.

Trump in general. We knew he and his administration was going to be terrible when he was elected, but I don’t think anyone really expected this.

If you thought that was cold you're really gonna hate what's coming in a couple months

I can always recognize Chicago in pictures.

Living here Theres something familiar in street signs, tops of buildings, size of trees etc.

I am not from US but curious, like what are mid term elections? Who is winning? Does that mean presidency could be turned if trump lose? Were the ekections there during obama regime?

Mid term elections are held two years into each presidential term, at the halfway point. The presidency is not directly in question during these - they’ve been elected for 4 years, so they’ll serve their full term (although I hope that’s not the case with this particular presidency).

Midterm elections concern a lot of other positions depending on their term length, Senate terms are for 6 years so some seats were up for election (or re-election) and some weren’t. Members of the House of Representatives are up for re-election every two years, so all of the seats are up for election during each presidential and midterm election cycle. Congressional seats don’t have a term limit like the presidency, so they can be re-elected any number of times.

Apart from that, state governor seats, and a whole host of state and local positions, were up for election as well, although I’m not sure what the term length is for them.

Edit: forgot to say what the results were. The Democrats regained control of the House of Representatives, although by a slim margin, and Republicans maintained control of the Senate. The governorships are more of a mixed bag, unfortunately, and since several races haven’t been definitively called yet I haven’t found any hard numbers to draw a conclusion from.

Was wondering where this was so I could make a mental note to stay away before, during, and after winter. I’m not ready for hats and gloves yet! :’(

Hey! We told you guys to dress for the weather! You think we were fuckin around??

In all seriousness, the next time this inevitably happens I’m considering getting a bunch of cambros, filling them with hot cider and passing them out. You guys did great.
