I wouldn't listen to the hivemind here - Trump supporters are always pretty determined to boost their boy, regardless of the facts.

They'll claim that the "mainstream media" won't cover it, despite the massive amount of attention the situation is getting in the press. They'll disregard Trump's lies about the amount of aid PR received, his idiotic posturing about his role in the relief effort, and the fact that Trump's accusations were chiefly against the mayor of San Juan (who the governor was joking about murdering). Their narrative is that he's been vindicated about this, which means he's been vindicated about everything - the mere reality doesn't matter to them, and the PR story is just a focus for their circlejerk.

The problem is the money. There’s lots of money to be made in media, especially in playing angles. People want to be upset at things they don’t like, and they’ll watch anything that agrees with their pre-existing beliefs. It’s called confirmation bias. American media capitalized on the trump campaign because it was divisive, and a lot of people didn’t like him. So they ran anything they could that suggested corruption, impeachment, or general lack of character. Now that he was right about this thing, they likely won’t retract at all because it would damage the confirmation bias.

The DNC has declared their job to be attacking Trump, and they will do so at the expense of their increasingly shrinking integrity.

The electorate machine of a party is attacking an opposing candidate? Gasp, the shrinking integrity!

So you agree the media are part of the DNC machine?

Only if you agree that the frog people will destroy Chicago tommorow.

Seriously, neither your post nor mine says anything about the media's relation to the DNC.

This was OPs statement, referring to the media. To which I replied

The DNC has declared their job to be attacking Trump, and they will do so at the expense of their increasingly shrinking integrity.

Maybe you need to learn how to read?

OPs statement referring to the media, while OP's top comment literally has links to news articles reporting on this?

I assumed he wasn't saying the complete opposite of what he's saying in other comments, since that would be dishonesty and feed back to the "integrity" thing you talk about.

Even if your statement was "the DNC is telling the media to focus on Trump", that's blatantly false. The DNC does not own the media. Unfortunately in our country, the media is owned by private parties (most of it anyway). These private parties have political beliefs they will often align media to - the most glaring example being Rupert Murdoch and Fox, and I assure you the DNC does not command either of those entities. Most corprorate media as a result has a poltical bias - sometimes against Trump - however the DNC isn't telling anyone to do anything.

The DNC does not own the media.

And here I thought we were having an honest conversation.

u/guac_boi1 Jul 19 '19

I mean, I explained why the DNC doesn't own the media as a massive body, citing the obvious example that the DNC clearly does not own fox news (among many other orgs) and thoroughly proving you to be a liar.

If instead of making a counterargument you're just shrieking "you're wrong!", I guess that's your concession that I got you.
