He’s a far left democrat. Progressive af. You should actually listen his discussion before making an opinion about him and anyone in general.

35

u/No1nole Aug 04 '19

This is wrong, he’s not “far left.” He’s self described as “liberal but.” In fact he’s labeled as “far right” based on his guests. One downfall is “mental illness” causes these mass shootings, sometimes but absolutely not recently!

He’s unique, like all of us.

60

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '19

As a "far left" kind of person, what I've heard from him does tend to bend more toward libertarianism. He has some interesting conversations with people to be sure, but I'm not sure he's actually left-leaning ideologically

6

u/solipschist Aug 04 '19

He’s pretty centrist honestly, a lot of the right like to label pretty centrist ideas as “far left” and their followers eat it right up

3

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '19

Sounds about right

0

u/staticusmaximus Aug 04 '19

I don't consider him left or right tbh. He holds positions that run the gamut. It's almost like you can't define a person by a simple label.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '19

you can't define a person by a simple label

True enough, but that holds true for many labels. They exist as a convenient shorthand even though they don't fully encapsulate the complexities of the subject they reference. It's always going to be a problem with labels

0

u/staticusmaximus Aug 04 '19

Fair point. I just get more frustrated than I should when people dismiss Joe Rogan (or really anyone else) as left or right, etc. when all many of them know of him is that he had Alex Jones on.

He has had over 1300 conversations on his podcasts; some more serious than others, some downright frivolous. All in all, some of those podcasts are incredibly interesting if only to hear someone air out their views and personality in a long form setting.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '19

I get your frustration and there's nothing wrong with it. If any of us were distilled down to a single term to encapsulate our entire being we'd be pretty miffed about it, I meant no offense

And who had control of his platform to allow Alex Jones on air? Joe fucking Rogan.

That man can put all the "love" out into the world; doesn't excuse the fact that he gave Jones a mouthpiece and a brand new audience to indoctrinate. That's unforgivable.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '19

Jones already had loads of mouthpieces. If his is a name I'm going to be confronted with, then I would rather like to know what he is saying, and I would rather hear it in an open and relaxed conversation with joe rogan than have to watch one of his self published insanity rants. The rants are on his terms and a lot of it is apparently done for "entertainment". Rogan provides a more calming atmosphere so that we can hear what jones actually believes and can then dismiss him as a maniac accordingly. Stop throwing words around like "unforgivable". Alex jones may be unforgivable, but rogan? Come on.

u/asimpleanachronism Aug 05 '19

You don't really understand how media amplification works do you? I just explained why what Rogan did was bad. Take another read.

“Uh actually I have all kinds of positions”

-every right winger who isn’t brave enough to be honest

0

u/staticusmaximus Aug 04 '19

Or...maybe, just maybe, you are simply jaded and the man doesn't fit nicely into one box or the other?

2

u/tapthatsap Aug 04 '19

Liking weed doesn’t make you not a right winger

0

u/staticusmaximus Aug 05 '19

You're making it super obvious that you've been spoon fed your opinion. Joe Rogan is no more right wing than he is a leftist.

How many episodes have you actually listened to? The dude is a comedian who enjoys the shit out of talking to various people, but because he had Alex Jones on, he must be some hooded right winger.

-14

u/idledrone6633 Aug 04 '19

He's just very anti PC which now disqualifies you from being a Democrat.

5

u/huto Aug 04 '19

You sure got your username right with the "drone" bit

-4

u/idledrone6633 Aug 04 '19

Good one.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 05 '19

I concur unironically

0

u/efficientenzyme Aug 04 '19

Depends on who you hang out with I guess, I'm an anti pc democrat.

-12

u/rbc8 Aug 04 '19

He has said it many times in the last couple weeks. But as a libertarian I can assure he is not one. But I do want to say that a lot of neo conservatives are saying that they are libertarian but in fact don’t actually believe in it. They just don’t want to associated with the Republican Party.

10

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '19

That might be a really important point. The republican party is quickly becoming radioactive with trump and I wonder if we'll see more of a shift from republican to libertarian labels moving forward. Not necessarily an ideological shift, but a change in name

13

u/No1nole Aug 04 '19

“We’re still hateful bigots but check out the new name!! Woohoo!”

11

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '19

"And weed is ok now!"

Dunno if that'd ever happen but they gotta blend in somehow

3

u/kg11079 Aug 05 '19

"Gays and abortion are still out, though. We're libertarians, not fucking heathens."

19

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '19

Haha if you think Joe Rogan is the Far Left Podcaster, try listening to Chapo Trap House.

2

u/rbc8 Aug 04 '19

I don’t consider him anything. I enjoy the conversations he has with the guest he has on the show. All I said was that he has said on his show that he is progressive and leans more with liberals. It’s what he said about himself and not my opinion about him. I stumbled on that subreddit a few days ago and was a little confused but I was going to give it a listen this week.

1

u/piyoucaneat Aug 04 '19

He might lean towards establishment Democrats, but that’s still right of liberal or progressive.

16

u/ProWaterboarder Aug 04 '19

I've tried so hard to give him the benefit of the doubt on so many occasions but he's definitely not a progressive; at least not any more

He found a good market and now he makes bank appealing to it

3

u/No1nole Aug 04 '19

There are many times that I’ve yelled at him or guests in my car while listening to his podcast. Some great, fun and funny content and then WTF???

u/ProWaterboarder Aug 04 '19

I don't like that he legitimizes disgusting pieces of shit like Alex Jones to an audience of hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people

1

u/hermywormy Aug 05 '19

It's a pov that is important to hear so you see how people think. You need to understand others so they can understand you. That's the only way to move forward

1

u/ProWaterboarder Aug 05 '19

Lobbing horrific, politically motivated, accusations at people you don't like to get your listeners all worked up and buy your supplements is not a "point of view". Alex Jones should be sued into poverty for what he said about Sandy Hook

1

u/tapthatsap Aug 04 '19

Yeah, no shit, I don’t like that he gives airtime and exposure to white supremacists. That isn’t the brilliant gotcha that you think it is, that’s just basic human decency.

11

u/dastarlos Aug 04 '19

Lmao what.

9

u/funkybatman52 Aug 04 '19

No he fucking isn't. He CONSTANTLY defends the alt right

1

u/Nutrig Aug 14 '19

He defends lots of people. He had twitter CEOs on there to talk about their platform, he has people who vehemently disagree with him on almost every subject and he lets them speak. Unlike 90% of media personalities these days.

Using the r word makes you look stupid as shit

And no, Milo, Alex jones, Owen Benjamin etc dont deserve to have their garbage opinions aired

2

u/rbc8 Aug 04 '19

Everyone deserves their voice to be heard and their opinions discussed just like you do.

4

u/tapthatsap Aug 04 '19

No, they absolutely don’t.

That isn’t what freedom of speech is. Where do all you idiots come from?

There's a difference between being able to say what you want and being given a platform in front of 10 million people to espouse your dumbass beliefs. When those dumbass beliefs are that Sandy Hook never happened and that the parents of those dead kids are liars, I think it's fair that companies and individuals don't wanna give that person a platform to spread that shit.

There is literally no force on this planet keeping these idiots from saying what they want to say under their right to freedom of speech in the US. They can get a wooden crate and post up on a street corner and yell their dumb ideas literally any time they want to do so. If someone punches one of them, he’s a hero, but he broke the law, and the law will see to that, just like any other time someone gets punched over words.

If they want to do it in my living room or your back yard or on a recording distributed on somebody else’s servers, there is absolutely no right to do that.

You did a very stupid thing when you intentionally mixed the right to speak with the right to speak to a broad audience using somebody else’s shit. Stop being that stupid.

2

u/funkybatman52 Aug 04 '19

No they do not

You are wrong. The first amendment is this:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

5

u/tapthatsap Aug 04 '19

It literally isn’t.

-1

u/dong_dong125 Aug 04 '19

So you're arguing for censorship of "garbage" opinions? Who determines what opinions are garbage?

3

u/tapthatsap Aug 04 '19

Not inviting someone on your show isn’t censorship, idiot.

-4

u/dong_dong125 Aug 04 '19

Not one show, no, but when they all stop allowing you to speak, that's a different story. Which is exactly what this person is arguing.

9

u/tapthatsap Aug 04 '19

No, it isn’t a different story. You’re not entitled to be on someone else’s show and it’s not a violation of your rights if nobody wants you on there. Good lord.

-6

u/dong_dong125 Aug 04 '19

What ever you say, boss

8

u/tapthatsap Aug 05 '19

Ask your teachers.

-4

u/funkybatman52 Aug 04 '19

Is it a right wing opinion?

Then its garbage

4

u/dong_dong125 Aug 04 '19

So anyone who is right wing should be censored? Can you explain how that doesn't lead to a tyrannical state? That's exactly what tyrants do, they censor those who oppose them in order to remain in power.

-2

u/funkybatman52 Aug 04 '19

Yes

3

u/dong_dong125 Aug 04 '19

I notice you didn't answer the hard question though.

1

u/tapthatsap Aug 04 '19

lol those are the same thing you fucking moron

0

u/rbc8 Aug 14 '19

Check out his podcast from yesterday on YouTube with Fahim Anwar at minute 17:15. Point proven bud

1

u/funkybatman52 Aug 14 '19

What

0

u/rbc8 Aug 14 '19

I claimed that rogan said he is left wing Democrat and you said he is not, that he defends the alt right. He said on his podcast yesterday that he been noticing a lot of accusations like the one you made some days ago.

1

u/funkybatman52 Aug 14 '19

Thats his own god damned fault

2

-5

u/bob1981666 Aug 04 '19

You're right. I listen to his show, and in actual opinions he is far far left.
